Lens Type: Standard lenses return images that appear the same as plain sight. Telephoto lenses make distant subjects appear closer, but shrink the image area, whereas Wide Angle lenses allow for a wider frame, but smaller subjects. Zoom lenses return a range of more wide-angle effect to more telephoto effect -- they are named according to what effect the midpoint in the zoom range returns.

Max Focal Length: The larger the Maximum Focal Length, the more a subject will be magnified. 'Standard' (similar to plain sight) is considered 50mm, although this will be slightly different in lenses intended solely for digital SLRs.

Good product
Rating: 4 Star Review
Review:  This lens is a full-frame lens, and it's extremely light weight. The zoom range is small but useful enough. The image quality is reasonable as well. The lens requires a filter thread of 67mm. I think they design it that way to avoid vignetting. The glass itself is no more than 55mm wide, but they make the rim wider so there is no vignetting at 18mm. The only downside I can find is that the...
Great for the money
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Nice and sharp, good color balance.
Weaknesses: seems to have a little trouble focusing in low light, but I just got it, so I'm not so sure.
Review: I just got this a day ago, and took a couple hundred pictures today, and sheesh, this is pretty great for 329 bucks. Nice and sharp through the whole range, though a little soft at the very extreme telephoto. But seriously, this kicks the butt of the old tamron zoom I had, which only went to 200.
Good standard zoom lens for K10D.
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Covering wide and standard angle, good color and sharpeness, Good focusing even dark indoor.
Weaknesses: Vignetting at wide angle with hood. F4 is slow for indoor pictures. Somewhat noisy focusing.
Review:  I purchased this for my new K10D. Indoor focusing was surprisingly faster than I have expected. F4 is slow for indoor pictures, but thanks to shake reduction of my K10, I can take good pictures at even 1/8s shutter speed and ISO 1600. Most of all, I love its wonderful color. Before using this, I had Sigma 17-70 Compared with the Sigma lens, this looks much sharper and colorful especially at wide...
Review for Pentax SMCP-DA 50-135mm
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: clearity, easy to use
Weaknesses: Heavy
Review: This is a great product, very perfect for Pentax DSLR K10D, and maybe good for Pentax DSLR K100D, too. The cons are: it is pretty heavy, not that easy to carry, and it is really expensive.
43mm limited
Rating: 5 Star Review
Strengths: Build quality, color rendition and contrast
Review: This lens is the brother of the 77mm and it has the "3d effect." Color rendition and contrast are great. The lens build quality is top notch all metal. Very happy with this lens and the ideal normal length in my opinion.
Pentax DA 18-250mm
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Good quality, nice range
Weaknesses: Zoom creeping
Review:  The Pentax 18-250mm DA zoom lens has the longest zoom range of all lenses. It is the re-branded version from Tamron. The built quality is a little bit better. However, the warranty is down from Tamron's 6-year to Pentax's standard 1-year. Also, the zoom is very loose. If you point the zoom down while carrying it, it will gradually extend out. Of course, there is a zoom lock, but...
a versitile lens
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: low price, high image quality, relatively light and compact
Weaknesses: plastic body, hard to focus in dark
Review: It is a very good lens at this price. Tamron is lighter than Sigma's counterpart. I used it to take macro pictures of flowers. It worked very well. Still its resolution is not very satisfactory. Although it has a plastic body, its build is very solid. It is a good choice for taking birds' picture and a cheap substitute for macro lens.
Awesome Lens!!! (if you get a good one)
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: near silent focusing, outstanding IQ
Weaknesses: There have been some quality control issues with this lens.
Review: I was hesitant to order this lens due to quite a bit of chatter on the internet regarding focusing issues with this lens. Mine is a little soft on the outer edges at 16-20mm if you really pixel peep.Other than that it is an amazingly sharp lens with great color reproduction. Its worth the $$$ if you get a good one.
Great lens
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Autofocus, great picture, relatively low price
Weaknesses: None
Review:  I just bought Pentax K100D and really need a 50mm and large aperture lens to take my baby's photos. I tried the much cheaper A50mm/F2, but the manual focus is really annoying, especially when the baby is moving, it's hard to get good focus. So I decided to choose a autofocus lens and this one is highly recommended by Pentax DSLR users. Yes, it does not let me down. It's great to...
Wide, Wide
Rating: 4 Star Review
Strengths: Compact size. Good quality optics. Smooth operation. Zoom.
Weaknesses: No filter system. Only useable on digital cameras.
Review:  This is a very fun lens to use. It provides full frame images on a digital slr through the entire zoom range. It is about the equivalent of a 15-26mm lens on a 35mm camera. It is a great match for the 18-55 kit lens that comes with most Pentax digital cameras. At the 10mm setting you can include an entire room in a single photo, although walls and people near the sides of the image will be...
