Sigma 30mm f/1.4
Strengths: solid feel, good price
Weakness: none so far
price of this lense is pretty awesome already, and i got an open-box for even cheaper $. very happy with it. large aperture makes need for flash is not always necessary. perfect for pix of kid around the house. a bit on the heavy end, but that is just an indication of quality lenses.

A very good lense
Strengths: Made in Japan, f/1.4, Good price
Weakness: A little tight when connecting to camera
Overall, this is a very good lense. With f/1.4, I don't need flashight to get a picture of my kids indoor.
The motor is also quiet and fast.
I used to use Sigma 105mm f/2.8 for portrait, now this lense is more convenience.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4
Strengths: Center sharpness, no halation, f/1.4, HSM, build
Weakness: Quality control, border softness
I bought this lens after using the Canon 28mm f/1.8 for 9 months and being dissatisfied with halation (hazy, soft focus look) at f/1.8 and f/2. The sigma has virtually no halation wide open. At f/1.4 it is roughly as sharp as the Canon at f/1.8, and is perfectly useable at f/2.0. Center sharpness at f/2.8 equals my Canon 24-105L at f/4. On the down side, borders are soft until f/5.6. Also, this...

Great lens and good price!
Strengths: Solid feel, comes with lens hood and soft case, great bokeh, "Canon L" like quality in images, 4 year Sigma Warranty
Weakness: I have heard of some users receiving this lens with front-focusing issues.
I bought this lens to use with my Canon Rebel XTI. I had the Canon EF 50mm 1.8 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 is hands down a better lens. Great bokeh, fast and silent focusing motor, very sharp pictures with nice contrast. I love this lens so much that I sold my Canon 50mm. I would highly recommend getting this lens. I've read some reports while researching this lens that there are people having...

Sigma 30mm 1.4 EX Lens for Canon
Strengths: Fast focus, quiet, nice bokeh, beautiful sharp photos.
Weakness: None really. Lens is a little heavy.
I purchased this lens about a week ago and have taken about 75 shots. The auto focus is very fast and quiet, even in dim light. I am extremely impressed with the sharpness and color rendition of the pictures. It is much sharper than the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II lens, and Tamron 18-200 lens that I also use. This is now going to be by carry around lens.
