This new hyperzoom encompasses a tremendous range of focal lengths (a 10.7:1 ratio) providing exceptional flexibility of composition, and allowing one to follow the movement of a subject throughout a wide range, without having to miss great shots while changing lenses. By utilizing a multi-group cam system, this lens maintains a more consistently high level of performance throughout the focal length and focusing ranges. This hyperzoom also provides high optical performance and incredible color definition without distortions or color aberrations due to the use of special LDO (Low Dispersion Optics) and Aspherical glass. This 28-300mm lens offers excellent portability because of its compact design. An added benefit of the unique design of this lens is that the front lens barrel does not rotate during focusing or zooming so the use of polarizing and graduated filters is made simpler, easier and more accurate. The Inner focus system keeps the front of the lens stationary and the dimensions of the lens remain constant throughout the focus range. great sony alpha lens
Strengths: very fast and accurate focus . 72mm lens.great range and smooth zoom . beats severalmore expensive brands of equivalent lens for 1/3 the price .made in Japan multi-coatedaspherical IF lens
Weakness: auto focus works great, but does make some noise if using in movie mode
This lens works better than my sony 55-200mm kit lens and IQ is just as good.range is better also
