This is just about the perfect walk-around lens. At 18mm it captures a fantastic wide perspective for a DSLR, and at 105mm has enough zoom for about 95% of my needs. With this lens my use of the Nikon 70-300mm fell off dramatically, and therefore saved me

one of the best cheap lens out there
Strengths: cover useful focal lengths
Weakness: plastic
Got it with a D90 kit. this is probably one of the most satisfying kit lens in the market. It produce picture quality that isn't visually worse than any other expensive lens. VR works great and saved many of my pics. however the swm is a bit slower than expected and the build is plastic and doesn't look too durable.. other than those, its a superb kit lens!
