Crisp Images

Strengths: Crisp Images

Weakness: None

I was able to compare this lens to my 17-55mm f/2.8 and it was very hard to distinguish any difference in sharpness. This lens wide open is pretty sharp (f/2) and it was very difficult to see any real difference between this and the 17-55mm at f/2.8 and this was at close scrutiny.

Nikon 35mm f/2 AFD

Strengths: Fast, Sharp at wide open, great bokeh for portrait, compact for travel and walk-around, very good for sports, action shots, good for macro work.

Weakness: None

I used the Nikon 35mm f/2 afd with my Nikon d300 when I take pictures of my kids in the soccer games. It is great for capturing action shots. I also used it in the church or inside the gym without flash. This is the second lens besides the 17-55 2.8 dx lens that I have together with my d300. This lens is also good with close-up work such as flower shots. I used it as my macro lens. In addition, I...

Nikon 35mm f/2.0D AF Lens

Strengths: Small size, image rendition, price

Weakness: None

The Nikon 35mm f/2.0D AF Lens is a lightweight, compact, fast, and economically feasible item. I've mated it with a Nikon D2X digital SLR and find that the 35mm angle is an excellent size for a lot of outdoor scenes. Pictures come out with crisp clear detail and nicely saturated colors. The f2.0 speed of the lens allows for more higher speed captures which produces very focused shots. At the...

Excellent low light capabilities and bokeh!

Strengths: Wide f/2.0 aperature gives wonderful indoor low-light capability and smooth background bokeh.

Weakness: Screw driven by camera body, can be noisy compared to AFS lenses.

I've been thoroughly pleased with this lens; the 35mm on my D80 (1.5x crop) gives a good field of view for indoor photography. Furthermore, the f/2.0 aperature combined with 800 or so ISO of the camera gives excellent indoor results at speeds that are arguably hand holdable that would be impossible with the D80's kit 18-135mm f/3.5-4.5 lens.

Great Little Lens

Strengths: Small, f2.0 perfect for indoor, great focal length

Weakness: No zoom

This lens is now my carry lens on my d70. Its great - little distortion and allows for low light shooting indoor without use of the flash. Its a great lens and worth the investment. A must have lens!!

Very worthy lens

Strengths: Shaprness, contrast, good build quality

Weakness: None I can think of...

This is one of my favorite Nikon lenses. I actually prefer this lens over the 50mm on DX and I love it on film due to the angle of frame coverage. I used this lens in many situations and I absolutely love the results. I did not compare it to the 35mm DX lens yet but I really have no reason to look elsewhere as this is the 35mm lens. I love the flexibility to get a shallow DOF and at the same time...
