Very Good camera for starters

Strengths: Light weight and compact. Easy to use and very good quality video for the price. Very good picture with good lighting and when use outside. The image stabilization is great.

Weakness: slightly loud motor. Need good lighting in order to get high quality video. Plastic looks a bit cheap.

Over all , I like this camera. This is my first camera . It's perfect for first video camera buyer who want a simple starter camera with some of advance features but don't want to spend lots of money.

Good camera for low price

Strengths: Easy to use

Weakness: Dont know.

This would be fun to use. Very small and hopefully it will work well. I just bought this and dont know how its going to work, but found out this is a good camera and very easy to operate.

Strengths: good price.

It is a good product witht the good price. I am happy with this camcoder. I have a 14-month baby girl so it is a great product to record her funny face.

Strengths: Simple to learn and operate, very light, convenient to carry.

Weakness: Resolution is not high. Buttons seems not delicate. The battery is on the surface of camcorder, looks bad.

Though this camcorder seems not in a very high quality, considering its price, the feature-rich camcorder is a bargain. I think it is suitable for whom is beginning to make a video.

poor quality and worse customer service

Strengths: easy to use

Weakness: poor quality motor and terrible customer service

we enjoyed the camera for about a year and a half until it stopped working. Still images are poor but worse is the quality of the unit. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal but the Canon customer service did nothing but try to over charge us for fixing it. After using it to video maybe 60 minutes worth of tape the camera stopped working. I don't think I will be purchasing any more canon...

Decent Beginner's Camcorder

Strengths: Good picture quality, easy to use, menu and joystick works well, good zoom

Weakness: loud tape motor, no microphone input, does not come with firewire cable, still pictures too low resolution

Watch out for the motor, I read reviews complaining about thinking it wouldn't be a big deal but its really annoying. nothing is worse than watcing a home movie with a constant hum, gear noise on top of it due to the tap motor. serious design flaw in my opinion. If i knew it was this bad I woudlnt have purchased this model. if sound isn't important to you, rest of the camera is nice, good...

Canon ZR830

Strengths: Easy to use. Good basic features. Great price. Great picture (in the right lighting)

Weakness: Not good picture if the lighting's not great. Feels a bit cheap.

This is a great camera for the price - there's not really much you can get for around $200 and as long as you make sure you're shooting in good lighting, you're going to have a great picture. My biggest complaint is that the picture is mediocre in bad lighting - but I guess you can't get everything you want at this price.

Decent Camcorder

Strengths: Everything seems to work and work well on this. It's fairly easy to navigate, very good zoom lens, and has decent battery life.

Weakness: Picture quality under weak light conditions isn't great.

This is my first camcorder in a while and I don't claim to be an expert, but I have enjoyed using this camera. BTW, the box come with all required accessories, expect firewire cable. I am happy with my purchase.

Good Camcorder but still images are not very clear

Strengths: Easy to use menu system, impressive color in good lighting, built-in lens cover, low price.

Weakness: No accessory shoe or microphone input, low-resolution still photos, not enough stabilization at maximum zoom, poor low-light performance.

I like the feature of taking pictures while viewing movies, but the still image quality is poor. Also, when filming to the SD card the movie is very small. I do like the firewire and the 35X zoom is great. I use sports mode most often. It would have been nice to have a higher MP camera feature. I turned off the image stabilization as it reduced the quality of the still images.

XR830 miniDV Camcorder

Strengths: Lightweight, easy to use, great quality videos.

Weakness: Battery does not last very long

This miniDV recorder replaced an old VHS-C unit. Overall I am very pleased for the first month I have owned it. Easy to use controls and an impressive 35X zoom are great features. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take family videos. For the low price and Canon quality this is tough to beat!
