Summary
Product Title: Canon Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD
Manufacturer: Canon
Power Score: 3.0 | 12 Reviews
Strengths: Perfect zoom for a $700 camcorder. Lot of features, and easy to use. Light weight.
Weakness: The night model is not working well during the night but if you can have someone holding up a light then it works just perfect!
For many people, the motor might be kind of loud while recording :( but if you can buy an stereo video microphone and put it on the top of the camera it works just perfect! I bought a stereo video microphone made by SONY ECM-MS908C Electret Condenser Microphone ($99.99) and put it on my Canon ZR 70 and it looks just like a little professional Camcorder!!! I'll give this product 9 fingers up lol....
Strengths: Ideal dimension and size. The light up buttons are nice. Camera is very ergonomical.
Weakness: Low light shooting is very poor. Motor noise is picked up by microphone.
This was my first DV camera...for about a week. I picked it up on advise of a friend who had a ZR model from a couple of years ago. Bad mistake. I should have done my own homework and research. The camera is great except for the crappy indoor video quality. It's really grainy and it looks like video shot from a cheap web cam. Come on, for 700 bucks I would have expected better from Canon. Second...
Strengths: Great camera. Takes great stills and great movies. Lightweight, easy to use. Super zoom. Battery lasts a very long time, even with the LCD display open. Digital effects are fun to play around with.
Weakness: Small 8 Mb memory card standard with camera. Need to buy bigger card.
Very happy with camera. Good low light filming. fast uploads of stills to computer with USB cable supplied. Very good match of price and preformance.
Strengths: Cheap
Weakness: MOTOR NOISE and poor indoor quality
It's true what you have heard about motor noise. It was much louder than I anticipated though. Low ight isn't great, but it isn't horrible either. I'll be taking it back to ircuit City
Strengths: Excellent camera. Easy to use with many features. Very compact. So far everything I expected after doing a lot of research and reading a lot of reviews on pricegrabber.
Weakness: None so far. It will take me a while to master all of its capabilities, but the detailed manual seems to have the answers.
I would buy this camera again. Compact, easy to use and many features. I've always had Sony's before this and they were fine. I had read many great things about Canon though, especially their R&D and quality. Recommended buy.
Strengths: 22x Optical Zoom, small & light (for style of cam), comes with pretty good battery, rewinds tapes VERY fast.
Weakness: Motor noise is kinda annoying. VERY low light conditions. Lens cap comes off to easy.
Bought it for $523.00 on 7/7/03. I was impressed on how small and light it was and still able to have a 22x optical zoom. Before I had a Sharp with a 26x optical zoom, but it was at least double the size. I did go out and buy a bigger battery for like $50.00 @ batteries.com and a Sony ECM-717 mic for $65.00. But both are not a must, but for me they were cause I shoot concerts. At that price (and...
Strengths: -Super pleased with this camera, I cant think of anything that could be better about it.
Some people complain about grainy images-I've only noticed it indoors and it dissappears if you adjust the backlight. Only trouble I'm having is xferring DV to PC via firewire, but I'm sure the problem isn't camera related.
Strengths: Many, many cool features; compact; good price; wonderful zoom at 22x; great detail.
Weakness: Poor indoor quality – very grainy !
Even after making adjustment with WP, AE and shooting modes, the indoor quality is less than expected. Called Canon tech support and was advised to turn on as many lights as I could and open up blinds and curtains. Below 100 lux (lighting measure) and graininess happens. The VL-3 video light is silly when the 70 has the LED light for the baby in the crib sleeping shot. I hear the 3-CCD, $2000...
Strengths: Lightweight, easy to use, ergonomical. Amazing zoom, good macro.
Weakness: Miserable indoor quality.
"Low Light Performance" is highly misleading camcorder property, because it means "Normal Light Performance". There is only three basic types of situations: 1. Daylight conditions 2. Normal room light conditions (= "Low light conditions") 3. Night conditions. Most of the video recording is made under normal room light conditions, for example, birthday parties, small children playing in nursery,...
The Canon ZR70MC is the one step up from the ZR65MC, the middle of the road model in the 2003 ZR line. The new model has a larger, 22x zoom, a number of special features, and costs $100 more. A snap shot of the market shows the ZR70MC includes better manual control than some of it's competitors, however, the ZR70MC still fails when it comes to low light capability. In an effort to improve the low...
Top
Canon Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD
Strengths: Price, features, handling
Weakness: Lousy stills, low-light is OK with tweaking, but don't expect point and shoot.
Nice little camera - and with the 2004 ZR80-90s coming out, there are good prices on this. I tried the 2004 models and I like the 2003s better anyway. The ZR-70 has most every feature you'd want in a consumer camcorder. The buttons and menus are much better than the new Sony touch-screens in my opinion. Stills aren't very good as with most moderately priced camcorders, and shooting indoors...
