Strengths: Small and compact design, excellent picture quality, sharp image stabilization, automatic lens cover, nice lcd screen
Weakness: Not as comfortable to hold as Sony HDR-HC3, battery life of standard battery
This is an awesome camcorder! I have nothing but good things to say about the image quality. Color are rich and lines are sharp. You won't have any problem getting the finest details our all your special memories.
Strengths: Video quality, ease of use, image stabilization, simple/reliable DV tape, and aperature/shutter speed control.
Weakness: No audio input, and built-in mic picks up too much motor noise/whine. Auto-focus sensor location. Hard to use thumbweel and tiny buttons. Battery life.
I'm not really a Canon fan, but every time I ponder a video/still camera purchase, I always compare Sony models and have not been disappointed with Canon products so far. My last video camera was the Elura 40MC. It was okay, but I expected more of a DV camera. The HV has finally met my expectations.. Just look around at the reviews and sample videos from users.. The picture quality is awesome....
Strengths: Great resolution, Decent picture qualities, Compact size
Weakness: no video capture/edit software, short battery life, and weird controls
I love my HV10! It's smaller than some of my digial cameras - very unobtrusive - most people think it's a digital camera in your hand The autofocus is very good - keeps things in focus as you zoom or pan around - unlike other camcorders The HD part ofthis is excellent - capturing some shots in my Potomac neighbourhood and viewing them on my HD screen makes it look like I was watching PBS or such...
Strengths: Hi-def in the palm of your hand! More features than you can possibly need. Outstanding image quality on hi-def playback.
Weakness: Probably too expensive for the casual user. Pitiful battery life. Definite learing curve if you expect to master this thing. May be too small for some, buttons are close together
Got forced into upgrading the family camcorder when my son started an ambitious science fair project that involves capturing video of red blood cells moving through vessels on the surface of the human eye (no lie). We needed a way to capture the image to tape, and hi-def seemed like a good idea at the time. Was amazed at the tiny size of this camcorder when it arrived. Weight will not be a...
Strengths: very lightweight, compact size, Canon quality
Weakness: battery life is a joke, slightly stranger ergonomics
Overall, this camera is great. $970 for a HDV camera? Awesome. It is a bit better for still images than a 3 CCD lens DV camera, but when things get moving quickly, 3 CCD DV cams are a little clearer. Overall, for weekend shooters and the prosumers who want to get in on HD early, this is a great camera!!
Strengths: Compact size, good for ladies. Fast autofocus. Higher resolution than same level of SONY HDV camcorders. 10X zoom for video and photo. Mini SD card for photos. Less than $1000.
Weakness: Compact size, bad for most of men to control it. Microphone is on the top of view finder; it records your breath sound clearly. No shoulder strap, mini DV tape, and mini SD card included.
I love this camcorder a lot. I bring it everyday in my jacket pocket. In my mind, compact size is the most important priority. If I can’t bring it everyday, why shall I buy it? I can just borrow it or rent it when I need it. Also, the 37 mm UV and circular polarizer filters are the basic lens you have to buy for the HV10 camcorder. The autofocus is weak at night, but it's acceptable.
Strengths: Picture quality
Weakness: The size and position of buttons where not a problem for me.
Super HD picture. Smaller than sony's current offerings. I looked at all the consumer HD and picked this one. I am very happy with my choice and don't want to change it.
Strengths: LIGHWEIGHT, COMPACT
EASY TO USE COMPACT AND LIGHWEIGHT......GEART RESOLUTION AND THE CONVIENCE OF STILL PHOTOS.......TRUE HDV 1080I.....MANUAL INSTRUCTION EASY TO FOLLOW.....PRICED VERY WELL FOR PRODUCT...A GOOD BUY AND INVESTMENT
Strengths: HDV 1080i Small Form Factor 3.1MP Digital Camera Uses MiniDV tapes which are easily available
Weakness: Uses MiniSD Uses old tape format MiniDV over 10 yrs old Difficult to change tape with tripod on No external Audio input. No 4 channel audio recording
Canon HV10 is the cheapest, smallest HDV camcorder to date. (For the uninitiated, the HD video (HDV) format records compressed HD video onto standard Mini DV tapes.) An excellent HD video camcorder with some annoying quirks, the Canon HV10 delivers almost everything a technophile wants for making home videos.

The HV10 is capable of shooting superb video and still images, but its microphone placement and lack of a microphone jack—among other flaws—are difficult to accept.

HV-10 Compact, high quality HD image
Strengths: high video quality, stabilizer, 10x zoom, compact and camera build-in light
Weakness: When the environment is quiet, you can hear the motor noise
I bought this camera in September before leaving for Europe trip for its compact body and HD capability. This camera was used on daily basis during the month long visit. This camera did not disappoint me. The HD image quality is superb, which matches some of the HD TV programs. Its image stabilizer works surprisingly well. Following are the features that I really like. • HD image • Stabilizer...
