Expect to spend a few days with the manual to get all the details this flash offers. This flash puts out a lot of light and therefore is ideal for digital fotos. Rule with CCD digital foto: More light equals better pictures
Nikon SB-80DX Speedlight TTL Shoe Mount Flash
Strengths: work perfectly with Nikon D-100. put it on and forget it's there.
Weakness: size
After trying other flashes, I found the SB-80DX does the job with the digital camera perfectly. According to Nikon it's also backwards compatible so it will also work with Nikon "silver process" AF cameras. I have not tried it it other than auto mode, but as it's said "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!"
