Description
The SoftBox enlarges and diffuses the light with the flash in the direct flash position. The light is softened and more evenly distributed as it passes through a center-weighted frosted diffuser. The unique design does not block either exposure sensors or auto focus assist beams on most flashes.

Works Great! Easy to set up. This is exactly what I've been needing. I use the Lumiquest for portraits and It works like a charm. Losing 1.5 stops comes with the territory. If losing 1.5 stops is a problem then look elsewhere for a diffuser. Got mine from B&H. Amazing! Standard shipping was $4.95 and I got it in 3 days!
Strengths: reduce harsh shadows, make light more even
Weakness: light loss of 1.5 stops!!!
ProMax Softbox does give you this soft and even light and reduce harsh shadow. However, the light loss of almost 1.5 stops can be actually a flaw. I use it as a softbox for fill flash when I shoot weddings and it works really well with portraits.
Strengths: Folds flat, only 1 1/4 stops of light loss, diffuses light nicely to eliminate harsh shadows, doesn't block the focus assist light or flash sensor of most strobes.
Weakness: May crack at fold points with hard use.
I now own two of these units for two Nikon strobes. I've used several bounce units and several diffusers but find the Lumiquest Softbox does the best job of softening the harsh light from an on camera strobe. Unlike most bounce diffusers the Softbox allows the strobe head to stay in the normal position. This prevents the loss of some auto functions such as strobe zoom while changing focal length...
Strengths: Inexpensive Folds flat for easy storage Good bang for the buck
Weakness: None
This is a great portable softbox. If your flash is compatible with the size (and most are) It is a great travel companion for portraiture and macro photography. I'd recommend this accessory as a part of any photo kit.
Strengths: Good quality
Weakness: Loss of 1.5
I bought two that soft boxes and I'm very satisfied. They produce more even and softer light. They are small and very easy to attach/detach. I recommend this product.
A Wonderful Tool!
Strengths: Easy to apply and remove Folds flat when not in use It does the job it's meant for
Weakness: It attaches with velcro. It looks okay but still... May come apart with frequent foldings/unfoldings
I shot my sister's high school graduation using this softbox. In situations where I couldn't bounce the flash (like outside and in a gymnasium), it producted the extra light needed without creating the harsh light/shadows that a naked, direct flash produces. It fit perfectly fine on my Promaster 7500DG flash using the included velcro strips. Once you put it on (which doesn't take very long), you...
