Good, but not as good as SD800 IS
Strengths:  small size, stylish body, innovational design (silver and black mixed), consistently good pic quality...
Weaknesses:  price ok, but not competitive. functions not enough. NO Image Stablization!! Only 7 MP, no any advancement over its pal SD800IS!
Review:  Overall it's a good camera. It inherited its precedents like SD800IS, having good pic quality (Canon's feature) and stylish body. Price is ok, now $249; but it's not competitive compared with other brands, even with Canon SD800 IS. So unless you have a strong desire on particular features of SD1000, otherwise I think SD800 IS is a better option, priced at $299.

Zoom is not so good
Strengths:  love the size, ease of use
Weaknesses:  the zoom sucks...sorry but have to be blunt about it. It really failed me on a recent trip to Africa

Strengths:  This camera is the perfect size to fit into my purse but still be solid enough to hold onto to take a picture. Picture quality is excellent.
Weaknesses:  I'm still used to the bigger cameras so this seems a little small to me. I have to make sure my fingers are out of viewing range.
