Strengths: This camera is absolutely awesome for the money, The Carl Zeiss lens is nice, the size and weight is good, and it feels good to hold. The controls and futures are easy to use.
Weakness: Haven’t really found any yet, although unless your zoom is where you want it, one hand operation is al little awkward, but that isn’t a complaint about the product, just use two hands.
This camera is very nice. It is packed with so many features, and they are easy to use, In defense of this camera and some of the other posts, with all digital cameras you have a shutter lag, if you hold still, the picture wont come out blurry, and why would you NOT read the manual, it tells you in there how everything works, I read it in half an hour while going over the controls and features...
Strengths: great "pocket" camera, fast startup, lots of manual features for small camera, pretty good pictures, awesome batterly life, best movie mode u can find on small camera
Weakness: macro button poorly placed, flimsy recharging port opening on camera, awkward feel with one handed shooting
Before I bought this camera, I was also looking at the canon s500 and sony w1. for me, battery life and size were an important factor because I travel alot and I want something quick and convenient. The p100 was perfect because its super-fast startup time, and the sony infolithium battery(I could always tell how much time I have remaining) The other cameras were small as well, but the p100 had a...
Strengths: Size and design- very portable and light
Weakness: Optical sensor shines a red light outward, can be annoying to people who you are taking pictures of- also included memory stick is insufficient
Overall this is a great camera. It takes great pictures and is very easy to use. It has a very fast startup time and can take successive pictures with barely any delay. the design is very sleek and compact. A great buy for the money. The only drawbacks are: the memory stick included (32MB) is not adequate, you will need to buy a bigger memory stick, and, the optical and focus sensors shine a...
Strengths: One of the best compact digital cameras on the market...,
Weakness: Pictures are a bit on the soft side due to anti-noise manipulation by camera. The auto mode is inferior to the adjustable mode in terms of adequate sharpness and contrast.
I just purchased this as a replacement from my Sony P-72 3.2 meg camera. WOW! This camera is so much more improved from only a couple years ago. Aside from the 5.1 megapixel count, this camera excels in almost every conceivable area relevant to compacts. First off, this camera starts up in less than a second or so--truly fast compared to other similarly priced cameras. This feature is essential...
Strengths: carl zeiss lens, sony rechargable lithium battery, optional docking station, memory stick pro compatible, less expensive than canon s500 and nikon 5200
awesome lens on this camera. rechargable battery lasts me up to 3 days of constant picture taking (about 200-300 pictures) as well as lasting during constant reviewing and downloading of the images. much more comfortable than the dsc t1 and better battery life due to the optional viewfinder.
Strengths: Satisfactory point+shoot images
Weakness: Fragile camera, warranty performance nonexistant
In Feb. 2005 I purchased a P100 camera from my local Sears store. This was the third sony camera I have had. I have had good luck with the camera in general, and meets my needs as a carpenter, using it to document my work, and for family photo's, etc. Around hanksgiving, I noticed some of the screws were missing from the case. The camera continued to function normally, and I elected to continue...
Strengths: Picture quality is excellent is the same or better than the Canon S series. But with a better movie mode, LCD screen, battery life and speed, there's no way you'll choose Canon over this one.
Weakness: nothing
After months of searching for the perfect ultra-compact camera I came down with Canon S500, S410 and Sony P100. I then decided to go for the Sony P100 and that's one perfect decision I'll never regret. This camera is awesome and you can't go wrong with it. As advertised, its lightning fast and its battery life is unbelievable. I used this on a 4 day trip to NYC and Philly and during that time I...
Strengths: Small, yet good weight. Picture quality is great, with quick focusing and little lag time after shot. Craftsmanship of camera case excellent.
Weakness: LCD doesn't have clear, protective shield like old DSC-P8. Not very good "grip" for one-hand shooting.
Seems to take better pictures than my old DSC-P8, perhaps because of the Carl Zeiss lens. Excellent quality and feel. Seems more responsive than P8. I would definitely buy this camera again and it gets high recommendation. The new manual options are cool to play with (apeture and shutter-speed settings). I really wish they would have added the plastic, protective shield like the old P8s and P10s....
Strengths: very portable-smaller than previous cybershot models; can be customized-sony has a lot of accessories(not free)available-telephoto,wide-angle lens,water-proof case, light filter.VERY clear pictures!
Weakness: While the LCD is larger than previous cybershot models it is smaller than the T1 model. Sony should have also adopted canon's lcd display which can be flipped which allows you to do more.
I am very satisfied with my camera! Was planning to buy the more portable T1 but changed my mind when I saw this. It has more features, better pictures, has a lot more available accessories at sony.com, and cheaper by $100. It is small and light enough to be place in my pockets(just like having a cellphone in my pocket) and has retractable lens which protects it from scratches. And you can even...

The Sony DSC-P100 is a small camera designed to be portable and easy to use. It’s also designed for the fashion conscious, and is available in red, blue, and silver. The DSC-P100 sells for around $399, and delivers 5 megapixels in a small package. As the first digital camera in Sony’s lower-end P series with a Carl Zeiss lens, the DSC-P100 packs a valuable punch. <p>

Subcompact digicams often involve a lot of tradeoffs in performance and image quality, but the 5-megapixel, 3x-zoom Sony DSC-P100 manages to avoid most of them, producing high-quality images under a wide variety of conditions, and with excellent shutter response and battery life to boot. Definitely worth a look, if you're in the market for a compact digicam.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 5.1 Megapixel Compact...
Strengths: Compact, fast start up time. Short delay between shots.
Weakness: No case. Proprietary battery. lame included memory card. No case; not even a cheapee one.
I took some time before purchasing this camera. I was going to purchase the Sony P93 because it was cheaper and allowed 2AA batteries, but then I found out the P93 does not use Carl Zeiss lens. The start up time with the P100 is faster than the Canon S110 when I compared the two side by side. The delay between the pictures is longer with the Canon even when the Canon is a 3 megapixels and the...
