Strengths: Sony quality is evident. Great LCD viewing screen. Packed with tons of features.
Weakness: I can't find any weaknesses yet.
The camera balances well in your hand and the features of the camera are easily accessed and logically placed. I love the ability of the camera to adjust automatically to the light on the subjects face automatically and I especially appreciate the automatic compensation for a shakey hand!
Strengths: Excellent lens! Good color management. Bright, vivid images with a wide tonal range and excellent exposures.
Weakness: Mode dial too easy to move unintentionally. No option to start up in review/view mode. Always starts with the LCD active. EVF somewhat dim. Click wheel somewhat small for normal fingers.
I preordered directly from Sony and received mine on May 4th, a full week before the anticipated delivery date. I've taken about 700 images with it so far. The long zoom is excellent. Nice wide end with minimal distortions, and acceptably sharp long end...certainly sharp enough for scenics and people. Birds (small birds like warblers, one reason I bought the camera) challenge the H9s...
Strengths: 8.1 Megapixels, 15X optical zoom, large clear tilting viewfinder display, remote control
Weakness: Haven't found any yet.
I just got this camera and love what I see so far. Its menus are easy to use and read (contrary to many reviews that I have read). Picture quality is exceptional. The remote control allows you to enjoy a slideshow on your TV while navigating the camera menus, etc. from the comfort of your sofa. It is also great for taking the family portrait without having to use the self-timer and running into...
Strengths: Everything but Image Stabilisation and Image Compression
Weakness: Image Stabilisation, No Raw, JPG Compression could be less
My full review is at sydneysnaps.blogspot.c... but in conclusion: Well, okay, here is the box and dice, if you have a later Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax DSLR unless you want Nightshot and a movie mode this isn't going to be for you. If you have a Lumix and hate the noise or want to see what a good picture is, its worth taking a look at the H9. I for one won’t look at another Lumix until the CCD...
Strengths: Optical zoom, tilting viewfinder display, shutter speeds and remote control.
Weakness: lens cap and mode dial
This is my second Sony digital camera. The first had only a 3X optical zoom. The 15X zoom on the H9 was just what I was looking for. The camera is fairly easy to use and I love the remote control. I
Strengths: great zoom, tilt screen, remote
Weakness: plastic feeling, poor dial control, lame menus
I dont own this camera, but I played with it in the store and for the most part i liked it. I own the H5 and love it, wouldnt mind upgrading, but this might not be the right time. The H9 has fantastic zoom, really amazing. it was clear and easy to use. the screen was the most amazing thing you could put on a camera. it clicks out from the body, and raises, then tilts up and down. really nice....
Strengths: 15x Zoom
Weakness: Cheap plastic feeling
No matter how good the picture quality it is , I have not verified and compared yet. I went to stores to look and play the camera, the cheap plastic feeling will let you doubt whether Sony using quality material without reducing. The poorly built dial felt almost going to get off immediately. If the body could be built with cheap toy like this. How do they build the invisible parts without...
THE GOOD: Relatively wide angle for a megazoom; tons of manual and automatic features; large, flip-up LCD; fast continuous shooting. THE BAD: Small EVF; lens aberrations and vignetting; image noise and some processing artifacts; lacks hotshoe and raw file support. THE BOTTOM LINE: If you shoot primarily outdoors in daytime--especially sports, children and animals--the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 is a...

With the massive growth in digital cameras, the market is becoming further segmented and specialized to appeal to very specific niches. The H9 and H7 from Sony are targeted directly towards the family with star athletes that want to capture all of those TSN Turning Points. Sony has engineered many features to accommodate the unique requirements that sport photos demand. Most significant out of...

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H9 (Black) receives an overall TopTenREVIEWS score of 3.45 out of 4.00. It is ranked the #20 standard digital camera of all time. The overall rating represents an intelligent balance of features, value as a function of price to features, and a summary of reviews from a variety of sources. The TopTen REVIEWS' formula gives a picture of important consumer features, market value,...

The 8 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 has a versatile and image-stabilized 15x optical zoom lens, starting at a respectable 31mm (35mm-equivalent) wide angle and reaching out to 465mm. The Sony H9's broad feature set includes all forms of exposure controls -- from full manual to a set of standard scene modes -- so there's enough control for advanced users while novices won't get lost in the...

Generally speaking, new cameras are improvements over their predecessors. Unfortunately, I don't think this is the case with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9. In most respects, it's actually worse than the DSC-H5 that came before it, which was generally regarded as one of the best ultra zoom cameras on the market. While some changes were for the better (more zoom power and improved camera performance),...

There’s no doubt the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 is a very impressive camera, but like the other super-zooms we’ve compared it against, you’ll need to carefully weigh-up the pros and cons. If you’re after a super-zoom with the biggest, most flexible screen and fastest focusing, then the Sony’s for you. Flipping the screen out to shoot at unusual angles, grabbing fast action, then enjoying it...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 was introduced along with the H7 at the Photo Marketing Association trade show. We looked at the 8.1-megapixel SLR-like H9 that flaunts one of the longest zoom lenses on the market. The 15x optical zoom lens and its image stabilization system are only a few of the fancy features on this $479 model. Face detection and HD viewing along with the standard set of manual and...

Cyber-shot DSC-H9
Strengths: Beautiful pics, 10X optical Zoom, Features
Weakness: none
This camera was a gift by my husband. I've never wanted anyone else to pick out a camera or camcorder for me. I was always particular about quality and extra features and would not hesitate to return a product. I really thought that my next camera would be a full blown professional camera since my dsc-s85 was still fully operational. But boy was I wrong! The picture quality and ease of use of...
