Strengths: Big LCD, shake reduction, weather seal, dust removal features
Weakness: Little bit slow in multi-shot mode.
I upgraded to this camera from Pentax *ist DL. Just couldn't resist. I like shake reduction feature - it helps when I shoot using zoom lenses. Weather seal gives additional piece of mind. It is little bigger and heavier then *ist, but bigger screen alone worth it. I think this is best camera for the money. Expert say that this is great first/beginers DSLR camera, but for non-professional folk...
Strengths: Best Value in an entry priced Digital SLR In Body Shake Reduction Built like a tank Weather sealing Handles like a dream Great kit lens
Weakness: Fast but not best of breed frame rate
I upgraded to a K200D from a K100D. I didn't have a huge investment in lenses so I could have changed systems to Nikon, Canon, Sony or Olympus... After much consideration however the choice is very obvious. In this price range (~$570 with the 18-55mm kit lens after rebate at the time of this review) there is absolutely no competition. To get a body that is close to the K200D build quality with...
Strengths: Solid, great pictures, easy to use, great quality images, body is sealed, sturdy, and best of all SHAKE REDUCTION BUILT INTO THE CAMERA!!
Weakness: none!! so good for the price
This is an awesome camera, GET IT while there is a rebate going on too!! Image quality is awesome and so is the body. www.pentaxslr.com/buy/... This is where I found my rebate at.
Strengths: image quality, pro features, ease of use, price
Weakness: NONE!!!
I upgraded to this camera from the K100D, and it is well worth the price difference. Larger LCD is great. Very solid build compared to other cameras in this price range. Several new features added along with the K10D's 10 MP sensor. Perfect first DSLR. Highly recommended.
Strengths: In-body shake reduction; excellent noise control at high ISO; has features that other brands cripple in their low priced dslr's, like weather seal, mirror lock-up, stop-down metering & wireless flash.
Weakness: Not compatible with most "standard" Ni-Mh batteries except the new hybrids/eneloops and maybe other newer technology rechargeables. Autofocus slower and less reliable than competition.
The main reason I bought this camera was for the in-body shake reduction with the ability to use it with any lens, and the good high ISO performance; which is a plus in low light/indoor situations. The K200D also has features that other competitors' "entry" dslr's lack, as mentioned above. For example, the "Sensitivity priority" mode is unique to Pentax, and can be very handy when you need to...
Strengths: Solid body design with many features. At entry level, the price/performance beats all others
Weakness: Need a better autofocus system in low light environment
Well, before buying this K200d, I also considered the Canon XSI, which is about $200 expensive. However, for entry level, canon XSI obviously feel much cheaper, especially for the XSI body. Though the XSI kit includes 18-55 IS lense, which is a good lense, K200D also includes body SR. For further plan, lenses for K200D is cheaper than the IS lense from Canon. One issue for K200d is its weak...
Strengths: Solid body design with many features; in-body shake reduction; easy to use; the best price/performance
Weakness: Should be faster in low light
An excellent DSLR for beginner. This is a well built camera, comfortable and easy to use. The only problem is is the focus engine, it seems it never gets good focus in low light. However, this camera produces good, sharp and clear images and is delightful to use.
THE GOOD: Sensor-shift image stabilization; wireless flash control; sensitivity-priority mode; dust and water resistant. THE BAD: Inaccurate, though still pleasing colors; tends to underexpose images; no live view mode. THE BOTTOM LINE: Pentaxs K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last years model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images,...

The Pentax K200D is a good starter digital SLR camera, one with a lot of history built into its body. Its lens mount, for starters, is compatible with K-mount lenses made as long as 33 years ago, giving the K200D a huge selection of lenses. What's more, all lenses attached to the Pentax K200D get the benefit of the K200D's body-based, sensor-shift Shake Reduction technology, allowing sharper...

great entry level DSLR
Strengths: small and light, price, in body anti-shaking, water-proof
Weakness: focus problem in low light
My third DSLR after *ist DL and K100D. same as the last two, Pentax product, good price, good quality. image is sharp, I like the color! Anti-shaking function works well for me. I took it with me for lot of travel, in Alaska, it makes me comfortable as there's lot of rain. My only complain is the focus problem in low light, it seems it never gets good focus in dark, even with flash. Another...
