Strengths: Picture quality and features
Weakness: View finder vs. finished picture (LED screen works perfect)
I shopped around for cams and was set on another brand. When visiting the local stores to check prices I saw this camera at a Target store on sale for $379, I got 10% off of that for signing up for thier credit card (which I dont use). I couldnt pass up the deal and am glad I ended up with this camera. I am very happy with this, my second digital camera. My first was an Olympus D-340R. After...
Strengths: Extremly good image quality and colours. Lots of functions. Good shape and size for holding. Rechargable batteries last a long time.
Weakness: Extended lens barrel appears rather fragile. Uses Smartmedia memory card which is becoming obsolete and limited to 128M (which I find perfectly adaquate).
I bought from Jessops with their price match policy for £293. I am very happy with the camera. I like the wide angle 32MM lens, but the x3 zoom is not quite enough. It takes 7 secs to power up which is a bit frustrating at times, although you can leave the camera on for a long period of time because it takes very little power when the screen is off. Problem here though, is the lens is extended...
Strengths: Very easy to use for a first time digital camera user. Great zoom, clarity and flash on auto focus.
Weakness: I will have to read the manual more to understand the menus as they are confusing. The response time after taking pictures is very slow and the lens cap is a pain, because it keeps falling off.
There are many features that I haven't tried, but taking pictures, reviewing, editing and deleting were very easy. The size and ease of use was very appealing. All of the controls are marked and easy to read. I bought it for a trip to Japan and read the quick start and was taking pictures before I got on the plane 3 days later. The shutter response time is very slow, but the fact that you can...
Strengths: Wonderful pictures
Weakness: But the software is awful. I go to the control panel, click on cameras/scanners and use that software wizard only. It is simple to use
I did not buy the extra software. I figured that if they can't get the product software right..... I love the camera, I have even used canon software with the pictures.
Strengths: Great value for the money.
Weakness: size
I love this camera. I have taken over 600 pictures and have no complaints. I spent 3 months researching different cameras and finally decided on this model. I am glad I went with this camera. For the money there was no better value for the number of megapixels and the optical zoom. I wish it was small enough to fit in my pocket but I would make the same decision if I had to do it all over again.
Strengths: very high quality pictures - camera functions well on AUTO and also has the capability of having all settings done manually or a combination. The night settings provided awesome shots.
Weakness: Somewhat bigger than other digital cameras my friends have purchased. Lens cap falls off easily
I read extensively before I made the purchase in May and at that time there was no other camera in its price range that had the quality and features of this one. It hasn't disappointed me although my next purchase might be a smaller pocket size digital for taking snapshots. For me, it's too bulky to carry around all the time - this might be something to consider. There are smaller cameras which...
Strengths: Excellent picture; Long battery life; Relatively easy to use; Supports TIFF format; Flexible choice of the batteries; Better photo qualities than most of the competitors and at a better price.
Weakness: Lens cap fells off easily; Confusing printed manual (need to consult the PDF version); A little bit bulky.
I did extensive researches before I bought this camera. Overall, it deserves the No.1 camera under $500 ranked by PC World. The picture quality is amazing -- although not 100% satisfactory when taking photos indoors. Olympus should improve the lens cap design and print a better manual. I also hope this camera can become smaller and lighter. Some users have complained about the software and the...
Strengths: Excellent picture quality...Ease of use...Makes great prints up to 11x16. Full of features, and easy to use menus. It just doesn't get any better than this.
Weakness: Included 16mb card is way to small for a 4mp cam.
I have read some other reviews, and will try to rebuff some of them. The software that comes with the C-4000 is good. Although it doesn't allow you to e-mail, anyone that can use a camera of this stature can surely learn to send attachments thru their e-mail server. I have found that the included batteries will last a very long time (400 pics and still shooting) if you just turn off the lcd...
Strengths: Auto flash, excellent picture quality and superb color accuracy in auto mode in various shooting conditions.
Weakness: Smartmedia is limited to 128MB & is end of life with most manufacturers. No standard a/c adaptor. Somewhat bulky.
I did a lot of research before deciding on the Olympus C-4000Z. The others considered were Nikon 4300, Canon S45, & Kodak LS443. I evaluated them for best picture quality in automatic mode in a wide range of shooting conditions, while being reasonably compact and not breaking the pocketbook. Olympus was the obvious choice for its consistently highly rated picture quality in auto mode both indoors...

Olympus Camedia C-4000 4 Megapixel Compact Camera
Strengths: Easy to use, Camedia software, size, value, ratings.
Weakness: Extremely Fragile!!!, lens cap can be a pain. Delay in taking picture after pressing shoot, slow zoom.
Durability is an issue. Mine was dropped approximately 2 feet. This is a no-no, but something that happens. The camera stopped working, and Olympus wanted $219 plus shipping to look at it- including some repairs. This did not include all repairs, or shipping either way. Olympus does not answer emails, you need to call. I really liked the camera, but am now dissapointed. I am shopping for my next...
