Strengths: vidid color, fast focus, ultra sonic cleaning
Weakness: A little bit heavy. noise at ISO>400
It's a great camera with a lot of features which is enough for me. Although its shape is a little bit different from the other DSLR, I think its not bad. Overall it's a excellent choice for people who want to learn how to DSLR.
Strengths: Most affordable DSLR with solid body build, Supersonic Wave Filter™ dust prevention technology, two great Zuiko Digital Specific Lenses, 8.0 MP CCD sensor and a lot of features
Weakness: Bad ISO performance at 800 and 1600
I bought it from Dell at $651.11 with two lens and love it. Picture is great at low ISO and you don't need to worry about dust anymore. A great choice for first time DSLR buyer.
Strengths: Build quality, feel, ease of use. Awsome pics
Weakness: Not to many lenses to choose from at this time. Noise at hi ISO
This is my first DSLR and I love it. I've always been impressed with Zuiko glass and this camera takes nice pics. The glass is pricey...but you get what you pay for... Great first DSLR and all around camera.
Strengths: user interface, ultrasonic dust remover, build quality, 8MP, good kit lens, very affordable price, great auto white balance, bright/wide angle LCD, bright view finder, fast response
Weakness: noise at high ISO
I really like the handling of this camera-- the menu system works surprisingly well, kudos to Olympics for the friendly user interface. The image quality is great, especially when you considered the sub-$1000 tag with a quality kit lens. It's a DSLR everyone will enjoy-- even for those who are used to consumer digital cameras. The white balance is amazing-- lots of settings provided, and the auto...
Strengths: Lots of features and yet easy to use. Sweet.
Weakness: none noticed so far
The Evolt E300 is a great choice for advanced consumer and beginning professional. This camera is one that even the professional would keep close at hand. It offers a lot of features that simply make this camera a great choice. The 8 meg pictures are crystal clear and put to shame my 5 meg digital camera. It came with a decent cd program which I am still checking out in comparison to some of my...
Strengths: Dust protection. Solid construction. Excellent image quality. Very good standard lenses. Inexpensive compared to similar cameras.
Weakness: Noise at higher ISO. Works better in manual mode than automatic in my opinion (I did not know whether to make this a weakness or strength). Firmware upgrades unneccessarily complex.
It can use the older OM series lenses (contrary to reports ). Olympus will not endorse their use (for fear of compromising quality) but they do provide an adapter if you email them and ask for it. I found the lenses I own to have excellent results. It has an unconventional body style but you don't notice unless you view it from the front. A strong camera that bridges the gap between Pro and...
Strengths: ultrasonic CCD clean technology. Cool structure. Strong flash light...
Weakness: the 14-45mm lens has a serious side distortion at 14mm. also at 45mm it only has an aperture of 5.6 which is not big enough for portrait.
I bought this camera from Dell a couple month ago. I switched to this DSLR from my old Canon S40. Of course the main SLR advantage is obvious: very fast shutter response, high resolution, much better built-in flash... Also I like the ultrasonic CCD cleaning technology. It is great for a beginner like me. But I am a little disappointed for the lens which comes with the camera and the software...
Strengths: 8 Megapixel resolution; terrific Zuiko lens; Supersonic dust filter; durable body
Weakness: bulky; soft image; noise at ISO800
Shot about 50 images using different settings and the results were generally pretty good. However, this camera tends to oversaturate most colors (but in many cases some people like slightly oversaturated images). Another drawback is that even though it has a higher resolution than Canon 300D, the pictures did not come out as sharp as I expected.
Strengths: awesome picture quality, great controls, cool design
Weakness: none
I just love this camera. It's much less expensive then canon or nikon. The perofrmance is awesome. The picture has sharp colors. Definately a buy and good alternative to other professional Digital SLR

The Olympus EVOLT E-300 is the first 8 megapixel digital SLR on the market to sell for under $900 (USD) with a lens included. The camera contains a unique Supersonic Wave Filter to remove dust from the sensor and is the second camera released by Olympus to follow the Four-Thirds standard for sensor dimensions and lens mount. Four-Thirds is a relatively new system of standardization that allows...

The E-300's lens selection is limited, but its features are well suited to photographers of all skill levels.

The Olympus Evolt E-300 is well-built and yields excellent images. However, you’ll get better high-ISO image quality from Canon and Nikon cameras and a better lens selection from just about any other camera manufacturer.

It offers a very respectable spec in an ugly, but very usable body design.

Olympus has announced the second model in its d-SLR line based on the "Four Thirds" spec, this time a prosumer model. We've run a prototype of the new Olympus EVOLT E-300 through its paces, and feel that it has potential, although final judgement will as always have to await our testing of a full production model. This new camera is entering an increasingly crowded d-SLR market, with aggressive...

Good Camera with good quality and feeling
Strengths: 1. Good image quality 2. Solid and amazing black color body 3. Good performance at ISO400 4. Two-len is enough for most shotting condition 5. Easy handling and adjusting
Weakness: So far so good.
I have used many types of P&S camera. So I think it's time to change. This is my first choice of digital SLR. I have been watching Canon Rebel for a while. But the price was so high that I cannot afford. The price of E-300 is the most attracting factor to me. The quality is wonderful for the money you paid. I am not a professional but I do take a lot of photos for my families, especially for my...
