THE GOOD: Optically stabilized kit lens; convenient onscreen user interface; compatible with a wide variety of lenses and accessories. THE BAD: Pricey for what it offers; lens-based image stabilization is less flexible than sensor-shift offered by some competitors. THE BOTTOM LINE: Despite modest improvements in performance and a couple of new features, Nikons D60 fails to impress and costs more...

The quality is superb and being a photographer this can only make you happy. The price could also be a strong plus. At the moment of this review, the price is 100 Euros less than that of the biggest competitor, the EOS 450D. Apart from quality, price will also play a big role in your decision as to which camera to buy. In my opinion the Nikon D60 is absolutely a recommendable camera.

Though it's quite similar to the Nikon D40x, that's only one more reason to give the Nikon D60 a Dave's Pick - it more than upholds the D40/D40x tradition. The Nikon D60's 10.2-megapixel image sensor turns out great quality images, made better by the new optically stabilized 18-55mm VR kit lens. Like its predecessors, the Nikon D60 is so easy and fun to use, it's almost immediately become one of...

If you've ever seen the Nikon D40 (introduced in November 2006) or the Nikon D40x (March 2007), a glance at the D60 may remind you of a Talking Heads song – the size, shape, and overall design are same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Under the hood, though, there are significant improvements, including a a more powerful processor, a kit lens incorporating image-stabilizing VR technology,...

The Nikon D60 is an entry-level digital SLR aimed squarely at consumers. It has a friendly interface with numerous help screens, in-camera photo editing, and very vivid color that borders on unrealistic. You also get a dust reduction system, snappy performance, Active D-Lighting, and solid build quality. There are quite a few downsides, though, including a limited selection of autofocus lenses, a...

Ultimately there’s two kinds of people who’ll be considering the D60. First-time DSLR owners and enthusiasts on a budget. The former will love its ease of use and vibrant images using automatic settings. Enthusiasts will also benefit from these, but in the long term could become frustrated by limitations including its 3-point AF system, indirect access to popular settings and reliance on...

The new Nikon D60 digital SLR camera is an incremental upgrade of the popular entry-level D40x model. The D60 retains the same 10 megapixel sensor, 3 point AF system, 3fps burst mode and external design. New features include an improved dust reduction system, a viewfinder Eye Sensor which automatically turns off the LCD screen, and additional in-camera post-processing options. We tested the D60...

Great camera, exceptional value
Strengths: awsome picture quality; user-friendly with plenty of features
Weakness: no live view LCD; no video recording
A great buy on an entry-level digital SLR. Plenty of great features usually found only in the more expensive models. Picture quality outstanding. Light-weight at only 17 oz. Very quick start-up. Worth the money.
