Strengths: Form factor, scene modes, lcd size
Weakness: Common flaws in cameras of this size and you must charge battery while its in the camera.
I have had this camera for a couple weeks and thus far I am quite happy. It was a tough choice between the Sony T7 and the SD powershot's but I wanted a 2.5 LCD and based on some feedback from a friend and the price, I went with the S1. So far I have very little complaints. Obviously a camera of this size will suffer from common quality issues, but overall I must say I am quite pleased with the...
Strengths: Image Quality, Image Compression, Menu Design, Camear
Weakness: Battery indicator should be improved more, button and lens layout
Camera Pros Image Quality: Very good (Even better than DSC T1) Image Compression: Very good (Even better than DSC T1) Camera Price: Good Menu Design: Good Battery life: Good Shutter lag: Good Camera Cons Movie mode: The quality should be improved and should be recorded at 640x4800(30fps) w/mpeg4 .avi format Connection Interface: The camera should has a builtin mini-USB interface to connect...
Strengths: very sharp, crisp, and clean LCD display. Very easy to use. Light and full of fun features.
Weakness: Only thing i've notice so far was that there was no viewfinder; granted, there's really no need for one.
Actually, i felt that it was about time Nikon made a camera this small with all the features it has from all the other coolpix cameras. when i saw it, i didn't hesitate to buy it right away.
Strengths: It is small and esay to use.
Weakness: None
I think that it has great design with large LCD. Actually, it is very suitable for lady, and can operate very quickly and easily. I am very satisfied with it.
Strengths: Small size, smooth contours, large LCD
Weakness: LCD not great in bright light, especially since there is no optical viewfinder
A pocket camera is not a pocket camera when it will not tolerate the pocket environment. In four months, my Coolpix S1 has twice suffered the disabling "Lens Cover Error", the first time after only one month of use. The diagnosis from Nikon's warranty repair service was sand and corrosion in the mechanism. My last pocket camera never failed during four years of continuous pocket carriage, and it...
Strengths: Small size, great design.
Weakness: Very poor photo quality without a flash.
While photo quality in strong light is good, I am very disappointed in low light photography without a flash. The camera has a "blur warning" which you have to turn off since basically anytime you take a picture without the flash it says "Photo is blurred, discard?". And indeed, the photos you take will be blurred. Also the flash is quite weak and is good only for close-up pictures.
Strengths: beautiful design; very easy in use; a lot of useful features.
Weakness: red eye reduction does not always work very well; approximately 10% of the pictures have round hazy spots.
most pictures are fairly good and sharp. So far the nature of the mentioned above hazy spots is not clear, but professionals say that it's a camera defect. If that's indeed the case I wouldn't recommend to purchase this camera.
Strengths: Small size is great. Pictures look awesome. LCD is huge.
Weakness: Can it be too small?
This is a great camera. Very small and takes amazing photos. Fits in your pocket easily and is very protable. Uses SD media which is very nice and affordable. Software supplied with the camera is very easy to use and is great. I upgraded from a Nikon coolpix 4300 and I am very happy, as I always have been with Nikon products. A+
Strengths: size, look, picture quality (given the size of its lens), ease of use, 5mega pixel, nikkor ed lens
Weakness: picture quality is not the best i've seen. nikon 4500 and even 2100 looked better than this, but they're also much bigger.
a really nice small camera. i chose this over sony because i think Nikkor lens is much more superior than Sony lens and Carl Zeiss lens. I've always been a loyal follower of nikon and always like the picture quality. this being its very first camera with its slimline design to compete with Sony's DSC-T1, i am very impressed with it, and like it for what it is. image quality is excellant...

Not long ago, a camera with this much power would barely fit in your bag, let alone your pocket. Nikon has packed 5.1 megapixels of photographic fun into a package about the size of a deck of cards. The Coolpix S1 is a perfect pocket companion with the kind of smart automatic features that make taking pictures easy.

The brushed silver exterior of the S1 not only looks cool, it gives it a...

The Coolpix S1 lacks some features enthusiasts might expect, but point-and-shooters who need a bit of guidance will like its easy operation and excellent color.

The Coolpix S1 has a lot of potential, but frankly there are better ultra-thin cameras on the market now. Let's hope the next iteration of the Coolpix S1 does a little better.

Nikon's Coolpix line of consumer digicams has always been well-received, appreciated for their image quality and ease of use. The Nikon Coolpix S1 starts a new design trend for the company, packing a lot of features, a 5.1-megapixel CCD with 3x zoom lens, and a surprisingly large 2.5-inch LCD into a very small, attractive package. The Nikon S1 shares some common limitations with other tiny...
