Much of the camera is covered by various reviews. I am not going to repeat them all but I have a few points to make: - If you plan to use the full auto mode ALL THE TIME, don't buy this camera. Save your money and buy a Canon G series (or SDxxx or even Axxx). You will be disappointment. Under some conditions, Auto just won't cut it and you will have to tell the camera what to do. If you are new...
Strengths: Ease of use
Weakness: Nonthing really...maybe a little heavy, if anything.
We love our new 10.1 MP Rebel XTi digital camera. It is easy to use and the pictures are great! I was "anti-digital" for a long time, I just wanted to get my 35 mm film processed (from my Canon Rebel) and have the pictures in my hands, but was swayed by my 2 sisters who both purchased this same camera (they also both had the 35 mm Rebel). We are glad we made the move and haven't been disappointed...
Strengths: Good photos, ease of use, LCD screen large and easy to see. Menus fairly intuitive. What a change from the point and shoot.
Weakness: Expensive and a bit cryptic to use in manual mode.
I would definitely recommend this camera. This is a real SLR. Since I had a Canon Elan I was easily able to move over to this body and use all of my accessories. Works with EOS lenses and some older flashes. +++++
Strengths: 2.5" screen is great and gives 50% more information self cleaning sensor is a necessity if you change lenses 10.1 Megapixels is good
Weakness: New RAW format may be incompatible with some applications no other issues upgrading from XT
I sold my Rebel XT and 6 weeks later bought the XTi and I love it. Just for the 2.5" screen this little beauty is worth the upgrade, even if 8 vs 10 MPixels isn't such a big difference. Anyway if you shoot RAW like me, make sure you get a 2 GB card (a fast one, I bought a SanDisk Ultra III and it's fast enough for the camera, probably the cheaper II is fast too, make sure it's 2 GB, as RAW can...
Strengths: Fantastic compared to 300D and even 350D! Better focusing, 9 picture buffer, larger LCD, finish feels nicer, fantastic
Weakness: None really. Small size is what I wanted for travel. Some models underexpose slightly, but you can just keep exposure one notch up
I upgraded from a 300D, and am so so glad I did. One major thing I like about this camera is the improved auto-focus system. There are also directions in french on the internet how to adjust front/back-focusing issues with a hex key. Using this I got the calibration way better than factory specs. Not possible with 300D, and 350D has major focus problems. This camera is like a compact version of...
Strengths: easy to use, self cleaning sensor, large LCD screen
Weakness: small hand grip, light in weight
So far, I love this camera, it is a great value for the price. The pictures are sharp and fast. The color is great! It is easy to use and understand, full of options to personalized your photography.
Strengths: Easy to use. So many options.
Weakness: Could have made the camera a little wider.
The XTi is an exceptional camera. It has so many custom options: B/W, RGB, custom picture-styles, etc. Also, the camera works with all my other canon EF lenses. The camera has given me ultimate control over the compostion of my pictures. As an added bonus the camera has a large, sharp, LCD screen. The 10.1 MP is very nice when editing picts. I purchased a 2GB extreme III flash card to hold the...
Strengths: Great D-SLR.
Weakness: A bit light and small.
Great camera. A nice upgrade from the Digital Rebel (300D) which I used for 2+ years. Pictures are very sharp thanks to the high resolution CCD (10+ MP). Unfortunately such pictures are quite large and a 2GB (or better a 4GB) CompactFlash card is a must. My only gripes is that the camera is getting a bit small for comfort (especially if you grew up with the standard Canon EOS cameras in the 80s...
Strengths: So far great camera, I took it outside in its automatic mode, and it rendered wonderful outside shots of houses that had variable light levels. Burst mode is great.
Weakness: I was disappointed that it did not shoot video, my Cannon sure shot has this feature, and it has always been handy for short videos. Elminated the need to carry another device around.
So far, Canon really nailed it. I am a definite novice, so I like the fact that the auto mode, really mostly anticipates, what you are trying to shoot. When I tried to do something a little unusual with my old 6 yr old film Minolta, I had to read the manual again, to try and figure out the settings. This one takes that out of the equation in full auto mode. I bought a 28-200mm cannon lens, and it...

You need to get your hands on the Digital Rebel XTi before you can make an evaluation as to whether it’s right for you. If you like its size and feel, then you’ll find it to be a full-featured camera that yields excellent image quality at a very reasonable price.

We've completed our testing of a production sample of the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and updated the review to reflect that. The detailed tests revealed what we already suspected, this is a really excellent DSLR, with plenty of resolution and great image quality. As is the case with most DSLRs, the kit lens on the Canon XTi leaves a bit to be desired, but it's fine to get started with, and actually...

While most owners of the Rebel XT probably won\'t run out to upgrade, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS-400D) is a most impressive entry-level digital SLR. It offers great photo quality and performance, plenty of features (most notably, a dust reduction system), a large LCD, and plenty of accessories. The main downside is its design: it\'s pretty small, not terribly easy to hold, and more...

The Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi is a great value entry-level digital SLR which improves on its predecessor in many respects. It has higher resolution without compromising noise levels, a wide variety of anti-dust features, a bigger screen which doubles-up for detailed shooting information, the AF system of its bigger brother and fast overall handling. The only thing that’s missing is a cheap...

The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi is an update of the Rebel XT with a 10.1-megapixel sensor, a dust removal system and a 2.5-inch 230,000-pixel LCD, along with a number of other improvements. At a list price of $699.99 with an 18-55mm kit lens, or $599.99 for the body only, the Rebel XTi picks up much of the image processing architecture of current pro and prosumer Canons with the same Picture...

Canon Digital Rebel XTi
Strengths: Very fast shooting and downloading to memory card. Very good image sharpness and colors. Great Value!
Weakness: Don't get the kit lens. Watch the exposure and focus.
The Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D) is an upgrade for me from the original Canon Digital Rebel (300D). The first thing that I noticed is that the XTi is lighter and smaller than the original 300D, but it still fit quite comfortably in my hands after a few minutes getting use to it. I have read a few reviews where people said it was too small for their hands, but I am 6’1” 250 pounds with large...
