Strengths: Fully rotating LCD screen, LONG battery life, excellent picture quality, fast shutter recovery.
Weakness: Red eye on indoor photos with flash. However, I corrected this easily just using the Walmart software that comes on the picture cd's.
I am only a novice photographer that takes family and vacation pictures, but speaking for the average user, this is a fantastic camera. I previously owned an Olympus digital that would blur pictures every time my kids moved the slightest bit. With this camera, I took shots of my daughter bouncing on a bouncy ball and it didn't blur at all. Not only that, but the shutter was fast enough that I...
Strengths: Solid feel , Manual shooting modes, super long battery life, Telephoto/wide angle/under-water attachments available. flexible view finder, Rapid shooting time.Easy to use.
Weakness: Ships with 32 meg memory stick. Digital zoom grainy at 10x Function setting knob moves a little too easily for me sometimes.
I owned the A530 and Digital Elph 5.0 in 2002 and really enjoyed the two of them. This camera has many of the same features like automatic orientation of the monitor image but the A630 is a great improvement in every way to its predecessors....Macro is great....Multi spot focusing works like a dream.Detail is phenomenal at high res. Shoot manually( Medium difficulty) or keep it on auto and just...
Strengths: Flip-out screen, long battery life, Great photos, Fast turn-on.
Weakness: 4-AA batteries makes it heavier than most.
Before buying the A630, I had the 4-megapixel Canon A80 for three years. Loved the camera, but it takes poor pictures in low indoor light settings and the 1" screen is small and dim. The A630 fixes both of those issues. The super-large 2.5" screen is huge and bright. Also the CCD is more sensitive and takes great indoor pictures on either "Auto" mode, or using the "High ISO" setting in Program...
Strengths: Very nice 2.5" rotary screen. You can flip the LCD screen over when not using and protect the LCD Screen. Excellent photo shots outdoors as well as in doors. 4X optical zoom .
Weakness: Uses 4 AA batteries , Big in size does not fit normal sized pocket.
I got this camera recently as an upgrade from my old Kodak 4MP camera. The quality of the pictures taken with this camera is very good. It has a nice flip LCD screen which can be flipped and rotated also. You can take pictures with your hand stretched out in a crowd and see the view on the rotated screen. It is a very good buy. I would have liked it to be a little more smaller though , as it does...
Strengths: Resolution, good zoom, accessories available, memory type and a large list of picture taking features.
Weakness: No image stabilization, video quality is not up to par with still image.
I have been using this camera at my job place before deciding to get one of my own. I have large hands to the smaller cameras crowding the market do not appeal to me. I just love the features of this camera and the quality of the images. The optical zoom is great and the ability to use the digital zoom while keeping a good quality image has been greatly appreciated. I also like the use of the SD...
Strengths: Higher Megapixels, Faster Flash Recycle time, Swivel LCD, Great Pictures
Weakness: Little Bulky for my taste
I had a Canon A520 and the time to recycle the Flash was so long that I got rid of it and bought the Canon A630. The pictures from any Canon camera is always great. Canon A630 writes the images quickly and the flash recycle time is very fast and the swivel LCD is great. It is little bit bulky to put in a pant pocket but will go into a jacket pocket very nicely. The button positions and feel is...
Strengths: 8 Megapixels, Large LCD that folds out (great for around the corner shots), Easy to hold in hand, Many different preset modes for the beginner and advanced controls for the more experienced shooter
Weakness: Large LCD is grainy and blurs when moving, heavy when compared to my former A510 which only had two batteries
A great camera with few weaknesses! When compared to my former A510, the pictures are somewhat crisper and cleaner, but otherwise have that same great Canon look to them. I wish the camera were as small as the A510, which was easy to fit in a large pocket and was not as heavy (had only 2 AA batteries). But having 8 megapixels and a fold out LCD are well worth the extra size and weight. A highly...
Strengths: 8.0 Megapixel, very comfortable to hold, quick startup, perfect color, easy to use, AA batteries to keep the cost down
Weakness: Size is still a little bit large, inaccurate optical viewfinder
I bought this Canon A630 to replace my old Olympus digital camera. The price is good. A630 is much lighter and smaller, fitting well in my hand. It is very easy to use and very responsive. I like its quick startup, so that I don't have to always leave the power on. It focuses quickly, and shutter lag is very satisfactory. It does a quite good job at capturing the movements. The rotating LCD is...
Strengths: Like most of the PowerShot models, incredible image quality.
Weakness: Beware the dreaded E18.
Canon point-and-shoot cameras are prone to something known as the E18 error, which renders them USELESS. Don't believe it? Google "Canon E18" or simply go to E18error.com. I've been a loyal Canon user for 25 years -- four cameras. My most recent developed this E18 error after being treated gently and properly for a year. Others report it happening right out of the box. The cost to repair is...

All in all, the exquisite Canon IXUS 65 leaves little room for complaint. Maybe the battery could be a bit longer lasting and a little more zoom would also be welcome. But that’s all. I can’t help being positive about this camera. It’s a must and not just for the trend setters in our midst!

Like most Canon PowerShots, the A630 is well-built, the pictures are great, and the camera is just a pleasure to use. The Canon PowerShot A630 continues in that tradition of dependability, sporting an 8.0-megapixel CCD, a very good quality 4x optical zoom lens, and a big 2.5 inch swiveling LCD screen. Sturdy of build, the Canon A630 offers everything from full automatic to full manual exposure...

The Canon PowerShot A630 and A640 are two very capable digital cameras that are suitable to beginners and advanced users alike. They offer far more than most cameras in this price range, which is why they earn my enthusiastic recommendation. I would recommend the A630 for most people, as it performs as well as the A640 in most situations, and it costs $100 less. The only reason to get the A640...

Unexpectedly Good Pictures
Strengths: Picture quality, size, ease of use.
Weakness: LCD
My first impression of the A630 was less than stellar. After a year plus squinting through the viewfinder of my Rebel XT, I was really looking forward to composing my shots in a big, beautiful LCD again. Unfortunately, the LCD on the A630 may be big, but it's not beautiful. It does a fine job helping you review what's already been captured and presenting menu options legibly, but a mediocre job...
