WOW!

Strengths: This Camera has everything I ever wanted.

Weakness: None

I waited a long time to replace my old powershot A40 ...this Camera here has exactly all the features I was waiting for. I didn't take my old SLR's any more because of all the heavy equipment...the SX100 has almost all the features of an SLR in a compact light body. I'm impressed with the picture quality and even the movies come out awesome. I don't care about slow flash recharge time because I...

A Great In-Between Camera

Strengths: Manual settings alongside scene modes. Compact for an in-between camera. Looks good and performs well.

Weakness: Low light shooting is average. Some noise in pictures.

I purchased this camera because I wanted the larger zoom and it has not disappointed me. The lowest zoom position is not as wide as I'd like but it does the job. There is occasionally some noise in the photographs. I like the way the camera looks and it is relatively compact for being in between a DSLR and a compact. It accepts SDHC cards and I like that it has both optical stabilization and face...

Love This Camera!!!

Strengths: 10x optical zoom, excellent pictures

Weakness: Flash recycle time

I just purchased this camera after owning a Canon Powershot A610. This is a great improvement. I love the 8.0 megapixels and I love the zoom lens. Camera is a little bulky but it is worth the extra weight. I also like the larger view screen as compared to the A610. All and all I am very happy I decided to upgrade and very happy I stayed with Canon. They make great cameras and I look forward to...

Very good basic camera

Strengths: nice zoom

Weakness: the flash does not automatically pop-up

This camera has a great zoom for the price. All photos I've taken have come out great. It's nice that it uses AA batteries (instead of proprietary batteries). I've also taken some movies that have turned out very nice (I uploaded to youtube, and others commented about the high quality of the video). The one big thing I wish it did was auto-pop-up the flash when it needs the light.

Great Zoom camera

Strengths: 10x optical zoom, excellent pictures and lots of features

Weakness: None

This is exactly the camera I was looking for which has point and shoot options and settings with manual features to play with. The face recognition feature and the image stabilization is great and allows you to capture images with out blurring. It is easy to operate and the pictures at full optical zoom (10X) were crisp and clear. It has very good manual controls and the scroll wheel makes it...

Canon Powershot SX100

Strengths: 10X optical zoom 8.0 mega pixels

Weakness: Need a fast memory card when using little to no compression

This camera is great. The 10x zoom and image stability control make it so easy to make great shots. One piece of advice though, get a super fast SD memory card for this as 8.0 mega pixels are a lot of data to store when you use little to no compression.

SX 100IS

Strengths: Great zoom lens.

Weakness: The recycle time between flashes could be improved.

This camera is great for the fuctions it has. Good zoom small in size and the use of AA batteries. The quality of the camera is good compared to some the same market. It beats the Sony model in its class.

The Canon SX100 Offers High Quality without Frills

Strengths: Image quality and zoom with respect to size.

Weakness: Awkward design of auxiliary port cover.

I put off upgrading my 3.2 MP digital camera for a long time - waiting for a decent camera that met my needs without having to invest in something with features I will never use. All I was looking for was 8 megapixels or greater, with an above average optical zoom, and ability to use standard rechargeable/alkaline batteries. That turned out to be a tall order and explains why I was so pleased...

Canon SX100 IS: Nice Pictures

Strengths: Canon

Weakness: So far so not found any

I like the camera very much. After having read many reviews and article on various make and model. I felt this is the camera I was looking at. I specially like the Mango design structure which makes very comfortable to handle it. In this price if we are getting mini SLR type of product, then i guess it is a good deal.

Great compact zoom camera

Strengths: Zoom, Canon Picture Quality, Video quality (for a picture camera), Built in lens cover, Manual controls

Weakness: Flash recycle time and lack of a flash pop up button

I wanted to replace my old heavy and bulky canon G2 4mp camera. I wanted something compact, great picture quality, with a lot of zoom, some manual controls, non proprietary batteries and an built in lens cover. This camera had everything I was looking for at a great price. I was reluctant to purchase this camera before seeing a full blown review from Jeff and after reading many different online...

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS (black)

THE GOOD: First-rate photo quality; full set of manual exposure controls; optical image stabilization; electronic lens cover. THE BAD: Too easy to accidentally click instead of scroll when navigating; no optical zoom in movie capture. THE BOTTOM LINE: Though the Canon PowerShot SX100 produces excellent photos, other aspects of the camera--some performance issues and operational annoyances, to...

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot SX100 IS

While it doesn't really stand out in any one area, the Canon PowerShot SX100 IS is a solid, low-priced ultra zoom camera. The SX100 features a 10X zoom lens, optical image stabilization, full manual controls, and a VGA movie mode. Downsides include a weak, slow-charging flash, no multi-point autofocus, and the inability to swap memory cards while the camera is on a tripod. Despite a few flaws,...

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Review

Canon's PowerShot SX100 IS makes long zoom photography point-and-shoot simple, with a no-nonsense design that still offers room to grow as your needs grow. The Canon SX100 IS is mid-sized and uses AA batteries, like one of Canon's A-series, yet it has a long, image-stabilized zoom lens, like the Canon S5 IS. With a simple, clean layout, the SX100 has an 8-megapixel sensor, a 2.5-inch screen, a...

Canon Powershot SX100 IS Review

The Canon Powershot SX100 IS ultra-zoom compact camera went relatively unnoticed amongst the vast number of new products that Canon recently announced as part of their Autumn 2007 lineup. The first model in a brand new series of cameras, the Canon SX100 IS is intended to bridge the price gap between the cheaper Powershot A-series cameras and the more expensive Powershot S5 IS. The Canon Powershot...
