Good product Good price

Strengths: Easy to use, compact size

Weakness: -

Great functionality, would recommend for most occasions. The last camera I had was a Fuji which did disappoint from time to time. But after four months of use, so far so good with this excellent Canon.

Great camera

Strengths: small size, lightweight, lcd viewing panel is large enough, easy switch between video and picture mode

Weakness: battery life seems short

I really like this camera! It is easy to use, very easy to get started with, and user-friendly. The pictures come out very clear. The menus are easy to use. There is red-eye reduction right on the camera! (no image software needed)

another great Canon Powershot

Strengths: big lcd, great quality pics, user-friendly, love the thumbnails option, and the battery lasts longer than my last (1 hour vs 30 minutes)

Weakness: none found yet

I love the Canon Powershot series and they just get better and better, more and more affordable. The SD1000, digital elph has not disappointed. This one has improved viewing features, a big lcd screen, and the battery lasts about an hour.

Good image quality and features!

Strengths: Intuitive, great image quality, small charger, small/lightweight, time-lapse movie

Weakness: awkward zoom control, slightly flimsy playback/capture-mode switch (but no big deal really).

Lots of great features, and size/weight is fantastic. Images are crisp and sharp. Big LCD is nice. Love the small charger, so you can take it on the road [battery charger has plug prongs that fold out of the plastic charger; no extra charger cable to carry]. Camera starts FAST and takes pics immediately. Time-Lapse Movie mode is completely cool!! Slightly flimsy playback/capture-mode switch (but...

Great Buy

Strengths: Compact size, large viewing screen, great picture quality

Weakness: none

Overall, a great digital camera. Bought it right before a trip to Europe and was very satisfied with the camera and impressed by the quality of the pictures that came out. Its small, light, and durable. Has lots of interesting features and manual settings that make it easy (once you've figured everything out) to get great shots- even of the lit up Eiffel Tower at night. Unfortunately, the camera...

Very happy , finally a usable, affordable small...

Strengths: Image quality, fast shutter response, excelent focus, small size

Weakness: no IS,

For years I have tried several small (pocket sized) cameras and I have been very dissatisfied with their response time, that is the time from when you push the shutter release to when the picture is taken. I am spoiled by a great film camera and a very good, very expensive digital camera (Canon 1DMKII) that is to big and heavy for everyday vacationing. Just before a trip where I wanted to...

Good all around point and shoot

Strengths: Image quality, size, ease of use.

Weakness: No IS, Raw

I would normally shoot with Canon dSLR's but I found having a point and shoot for everyday shots, is very useful. I travel a lot for work and like to take my camera with me because I never know what I'll see. Instead of lugging my dSLR and lenses, having this in my pocket does the trick. I've even taken this with me on my dSLR shoots because in case I didn't have time to change a lens or...

Excellent

Strengths: Bright and crisp images.

As a loyal canon customer I have tried most of the models of canon sd series. Comparing to previous models this camera is light and sturdy. Unlike SD630 its compact and thinner. Image quality is bright and crisp even at the darkest places.

Great Size, Sub-Par Images.

Strengths: Very compact size, nice LCD screen, lightning quick operation.

Weakness: Sub-par Image quality, boxy plain shape.

I was so excited to purchase this camera and then after a couple photo outings and taking over 200 pics on 3 separate trips, I noticed a few common issues. In bright sunlight the images are all washed out, all the highlights are completely blown out. Conversely, in dark settings there is significant noise and grain in the pictures. You literally have to have perfect light balance when using this...

Awesome Canon Camera

Strengths: Small and compact hidden in pockets, boxy and sexy design, Digic III Face Detection, ISO Below 100 -- lowest is 80.

Weakness: 32mb SD card, plastic and flimsy battery cover, no IS and viewfinder, no RAW, proprietary and short battery life.

The user interface is user-friendly, very much the same as Powershot models. I have so much fun with MACRO on flowers, animals, and still figurine. The button layout is easy to figure out (easily fat-finger). The Face Detection option allows an amateur like me to get a great photo of the family, friends at a party, and so on. Get at least a gig for memory. The included 32mb SD is a joke. It is...

Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH (Silver)

THE GOOD: Excellent image quality; solid build quality; speedy performance; optical viewfinder; face detection. THE BAD: No manual exposure controls. THE BOTTOM LINE: Small size, excellent image quality, and a solid, though not extensive, feature set make the SD1000 a great choice for a compact camera.

Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH

Canon's new PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH has a futuristic, yet retro look that is almost identical to the original, film-based ELPH, introduced back in May 1996. In addition to its compact size and eye-catching design, the 7-megapixel SD1000 has a standard 3x optical zoom with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 35-105mm, a 2.5-inch LCD, and an optical viewfinder. Exposure is automatic, and a new...

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH

As long-time readers of this site may know, I've been a fan of Canon's Digital ELPH series of cameras since their inception back in the year 2000. This latest model -- the PowerShot SD1000 -- is a stylish, easy-to-use, and responsive ultra-compact camera that takes good quality photos. While not perfect (but what is?), the SD1000 easily earns my recommendation.

Canon Digital IXUS 70 Review

The new Canon Digital IXUS 70 compact digital camera (also known as the Powershot SD1000) was first announced just before the PMA show in early March. Measuring just 19.4mm deep, the new IXUS 70 is Canon's slimmest digital camera ever, and it also weighs just 125gms and fits in the palm of your hand. Headline features of the IXUS 70 include a 7 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch LCD screen, 3x optical...

Canon PowerShot SD750 and SD1000 First Impressions Review

In February 2007, Canon announced the PowerShot SD750 and SD1000 digital cameras to replace the older SD630 and SD600 models. Don’t let the numbers fool you: the SD750 is the fancier camera with its 3-inch LCD screen compared to the SD1000’s 2.5-inch LCD. The Digital Elphs both have 7.1 megapixels and Digic III image processors with face detection technology. <p>
