Strengths: Great photo quality, ease of use, nice look retrospectively, and feature rich.
Weakness: weird controls in preview mode, and the lack of viewfinder.
This 7.1 mp camera is a big bang for the buck. It's full of features and gives you great photos. This camera didn't disappoint much. You won't have to worry once you are used to the controls.
Strengths: good quality
Weakness: battery life short
We have a Canon Camera, but it's larger and heavier than the Powershot A470. I wanted something small that I could either put in my pocket or bag. This camera fits that description and more. It's easy to set, focus and shoot! The pictures are clear and sharp. Recently though, I downloaded pictures into a digital picture frame. I was disappointed that some of the pictures had dark background and...
Strengths: Low-cost, Brand-Name, Above-Average Picture Quality for the $, Great Ergonomics, AA Battery Power
Weakness: Not Enough Shooting Modes, Largish, No In-Camera Charging
It's my first digital camera, so I didn't want to spend too much and/or get too much camera. I was initially attracted to the Canon name in addition to wanting a 2008 model, since the industry updates models 1-2 times/year. I did some online research before making a decision and this model got pretty good reviews for a entry-level. It's on the chunky side (due to it's AA battery power), but with...
Strengths: pretty, good price
Weakness: not rechargeable battery
This Canon A470 looks very pretty. It is 7.1Mp and 2.5 inch LCD, with such a good price. The weakness is that it uses AA battery, instead of rechargeable battery. overall, I like it.
THE GOOD: Inexpensive; fast performance. THE BAD: Noisy pictures; chunky design. THE BOTTOM LINE: For the money, youd have a hard time finding a better snapshot camera.

Small and inexpensive, the 7.1-megapixel Canon PowerShot A470 delivers good pictures and is easy to use in just about any situation. Its 3.4x zoom lens gives the PowerShot A470 digital camera a very slight edge over most pocket digital cameras. The Canon A470's 2.5-inch LCD is bright and sharp, and is even usable in direct sunlight. Capitalizing on Canon's Face Detection and Motion Detection...

Great Camera for the price
Strengths: 7.1 Megapixels, 3.4x optical zoom, great picture quality, feature rich, inexpensive, uses AA batteries (in terms of availability and cost effectiveness)
Weakness: no image stability, uses AA batteries (in terms of battery life), no internal memory of its own
This camera overall is an excellent performer. It is also inexpensive especially coming from a trusted brand like canon. The image quality is jaw-dropping comparing to other similar priced cameras. This camera is a great bang for the buck for people who are in a budget.
