Great Camera!

Strengths: Very easy to use - almost intuitive interface.

Weakness: The LCD auto-shutoff feature can be annoying sometimes, but nothing to really complain about.

I absolutely love this camera. As my first SLR, I thought there would be some learning curve. But without even picking up the manual I feel like I'm taking much better pictures. The interface is very easy to use, and I can change most settings with just one or two pushes of the button. The most surprising feature for me was the pop up flash. I generally don't like using the flash for indoor...

Best starter camera money can buy for amateur/novice...

Strengths: Lightweight, small size and ergonomics Quality construction High resolution Dust removal feature

Weakness: APC-S DSLR (smaller image sensor) Almost imperceptible rattling of the flash link mechanism

1) Lightweight, small size and ergonomics: It's easy to carry around and compose picture at a moment's notice. Do not pay attention to people complaining about it being too small to hold, and it being too light. Go to the nearest local store and hold one in your hands and take pictures. This camera is able to take pictures without any memory card in it. You'll see the preview for a brief moment...

Great camera - make your friends jealous.

Strengths: Nice feel to shoot with, great picture quality, good looking and state of the art for a consumer product.

Weakness: Instructions a bit hard to follow for some features (i.e. how to shoot raw), the little rubber door for the data port is kind of difficult to open, new lenses very expensive.

This camera will be the envy of everyone you know. This little wonder is a great little camera for not too crazy a price... For me, figuring things out will take a little while, but it seems like this camera can do just about everything my similarly priced Pentax could do back in the day. However, I'm a little shocked at how much a good telephoto lense runs for this unit - hopefully the EF lens...

Wonderful camera!

Strengths: Many, many features and options; quick shutter speed; great feel; compact and light for a fully featured SLR; useable viewfinder (unlike many digital cameras).

Weakness: None in my opinion.

There are many more features than I know how to use after a month, but I am excited to learn more about this camera - it takes great photos even with my limited knowledge! Everything I heard and read about the superior quality of this camera is true. It is small and light enough to carry around without feeling as if I'm lugging a heavy piece of equipment, but still lets me be creative and play...

Nice Camera

Strengths: Takes great pictures, feels comfortable in the hands, quick response to moving subjects.

Weakness: Some shots are under exposed which require additional work in a photo editing software package or by compensating within the camera.

I would definitely recommend this camera if your wanting to go beyond what a point and shoot camera can accomplish. Be sure to read the instruction manual to learn how to control every aspect of the camera and your photos will turn out great!

EOS XTi Rocks

Strengths: Lightweight; fast shutter speed; great pictures; prices are coming down quickly

Weakness: Recharge for flash pictures

I must say I am really impressed with Canon's new EOS XTi. It seems to be a wonderful camera. I had the EOS Elan IIe which did a wonderful job taking film pictures and I have been using the Canon A620 point and shoot, but I was looking for a little more. The Canon EOS XTi fits the bill. The old lenses are compatible with the new EOS (I believe there is a 1.6x convert) which lets me keep some...

Canon Digital Rebel Digital SLR w/ 18-55 mm Lens

Strengths: Great picture, outstanding clarity, light weight

Weakness: None so far

This is a great camera from Canon. It has very nice built quality and a lot of features comparable to the more the expensive ones like Canon 30D. It is very easy to use and the LCD is large and bright. I dont see increased noise so far. Overall, it is perfect buy for an entry level like me.

Buy This Camera

Strengths: This camera is awesome. There are many great features and easy to use. Highly recomend for both the amateur as well as the enthusiast. Lightweight and the image processing system is one of the best.

Weakness: Does not have image stabilation...but I haven't needed it. so far. Overall, I haven't found any other weaknesses

I highly recomend this Canon camera. The quality is on par with the original 35MM Canon AE1 camera...which was one of the best 20 years ago. The lenses tend to be expensive - but when you buy quality it is worth it.

Canon Rebel XTi

Strengths: Works like an SLR and offers all the benefits of digital features.

Weakness: Auto mode rarely works well in low light situations.

I am not a professional photographer but I got some great shots for my company's brochure after receiving a few pointers on basic SLR photography. Resolution is fantastic and yet I am able to store dozens images on my old 512 M Compact Flash card. I am using a Canon 430EX flash with a third party Umbrella flash kit and getting excellent results. I would recommend this camera for anyone who is...

EOS Rebel XTi

Strengths: As a new digtal user, to many to list.

Weakness: Nothing that we really have come across yet.

This is our first step into DSLR and our last SLR broke about five years ago. We're just hobbiest, but are amazed by the quality of the pictres. The camera is exceptionally easy to use out-of-the box in the auto mode. It has taken some time to get cofortable with some of the manual settings. However, the advantage of digital lets me try lots of settings and see immediate results.

Canon EOS 400D Rebel XTi

We've completed our testing of a production sample of the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and updated the review to reflect that. The detailed tests revealed what we already suspected, this is a really excellent DSLR, with plenty of resolution and great image quality. As is the case with most DSLRs, the kit lens on the Canon XTi leaves a bit to be desired, but it's fine to get started with, and actually...

Camera Test: Canon EOS Rebel XTi (400D)

Shooting with the Rebel XTi is thoroughly pleasurable. It works fast and accurately. No, it's not a bulletproof tank, and some of the control buttons are just barely up from point-and-shoot. But given the image quality, autofocusing, fast shooting, and exposure controls of the XTi, it's not just a deal, it's a screaming, bloody, great deal.

DCRP Review: Canon Digital Rebel XTi

While most owners of the Rebel XT probably won\\\'t run out to upgrade, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS-400D) is a most impressive entry-level digital SLR. It offers great photo quality and performance, plenty of features (most notably, a dust reduction system), a large LCD, and plenty of accessories. The main downside is its design: it\\\'s pretty small, not terribly easy to hold, and more...

Camera Labs - Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi review

The Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi is a great value entry-level digital SLR which improves on its predecessor in many respects. It has higher resolution without compromising noise levels, a wide variety of anti-dust features, a bigger screen which doubles-up for detailed shooting information, the AF system of its bigger brother and fast overall handling. The only thing that’s missing is a cheap...

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital Camera Review

The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi is an update of the Rebel XT with a 10.1-megapixel sensor, a dust removal system and a 2.5-inch 230,000-pixel LCD, along with a number of other improvements. At a list price of $699.99 with an 18-55mm kit lens, or $599.99 for the body only, the Rebel XTi picks up much of the image processing architecture of current pro and prosumer Canons with the same Picture...
