Strengths: Interchangeable lenses, battery life is superb, Quality of pictures is excellent
Weakness: Weigth. It may not be heavy the first ten minutes, but put it on your back pack all day and you'll consider a 2nd camera as a companion kit. Little slow buffer for continuos shooting
I'm more than pleased with this my 4th digital camera. It may have not all the menus a C5050Z from Olympus has, and also not include efects like B&W ans sepia, but it's what I look into digital cameras since they wen't on the market, a 35mm real feel camera with digital storage. Of course you can't have this without a Micro Drive of 1, 2, or 4Gb, and they are extremly inexpensive rigth now in...
Strengths: Very user friendly, excellent battery life and fast recharge time. great picture quality.
My experience with Canon Cameras goes back to 1968 when I bought my first Canon 35mm film camera. I have owned their top of the line professional F1 and when I decided to go to a digital I chose the EOS Rebel digital, and must say that I am very happy with it's performance. Its performance is equal to if not better than the Canon 35mm film cameras I have owned. The picture quality is amazing. It...
Strengths: Very user friendly, great battery life, lens interchangabilty, great picture quality.
I really like the EOS REBEL digital, it has the the feel of a 35mm film SLR camera that I have become so accustom to in my 40 years as a photography hobbiest. The interchangable lenses is a big plus. After about a week I realized that the 18 to 55 mm lens that came with the camera had its limits. A quick trip to camera store and purchase of a 28 to 200 mm zoom lens made this camera very versital....
Strengths: versatile. shifts from manual to idiot proof. high image quality.
Weakness: flash hits my visor on my ever-present ball cap (no photographer should be without one.
I am a semi-pro photographer with a heavy interest in astro-photography. This camera bridges the gap between digital convenience, and SLR function and quality. For the price, this camera cannot be beat. Wide variety of lenses, and accessories make it much more useful than my old digital. Instant image review is a must for astro-photography. I can't tell you how many rolls of film I have wasted in...
Strengths: Lightweight, High Quality Pictures, Raw Rocks
Weakness: Slow Buffer, Looks
I've had this camera for almost a year now, and I haven't regretted a day since my purchase. I've used the camera to shoot all sorts of scenes, product shots, sports, fireworks etc etc.. I've also managed to start collecting a bunch of lenses and accessories since jumping into the DSLR market, in which I hope to keep using in the future (*cough*) D20. Anyways.. The Camera works great, does the...
Strengths: PRICE $700 after rebate. ISO 100-1600.
Weakness: does not have sexy look as Nikon D70
I spend a lot of research before buying this camera. So far it seems to be the best SLR on the market. A lot of people like Nikon. I went to the Ritz store to compare. Well, obviously Nikon D70 is a lot sexier. Looks more like a pro-camera. It is faster also. However, that increase in speed is truely marginal. Shooting speed difference is very close in both cameras. The price difference is huge....
Strengths: Great Camera. You get most of what a "Professional" digital camera has for 1/2 the cost. This is the best Digital SLR Camera Value out there.
Weakness: Does not come with Memory Card.
This is a fantastic camera. I have owned 5 digital camera's in the past (Minolta Di-Image7i, Canon G3, Nikon CoolPix 5000, Nikon Coolpix 995 and Nikon 4700) This Camera blows them all away in every category. I purchased a additional flash unit that mounts on the "hot-shue" on top of the camera for thowing light farther in an indoor environment. Well worth the cost,(Canon 3600ex) and it integrates...
Strengths: This camera is fast, sensitive, good picture quality, large lens selection, long battery lifetime, easy to use, and it has a fairly reasonable price.
Weakness: I wish true digital SLR cameras be smaller and lighter.
I use it with its standard 18-55mm lens and with 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM. With first lens I get great pictures indoor and with second outdoor (IS - image stabilization of 75-300mm lens allows for good pictures even at 1/10 sec). This camera focuses very fast with the exception of pictures at night. However, manual focus works fine - SLR gives very clear picture allowing for effective manual...
Strengths: Canon cameras take pictures with very rich colours. It's fairly easy to use if you've used a digital camera before.
Weakness: I doubt the plastic body is very durable, though I wouldn't know as mine didn't last long enough for me to find out. See below for the main problem with this camera, the infamous "err 99" problem.
I purchased this camera a few days ago with the EF-S kit lens. I wish I had read a review like the one I'm posting now before I made the purchase. I took about 30 shots and then received an err 99 message on the LCD. The error 99 message locked the camera up and it refused to take any more pictures. I looked up the error message in the product manual and it said basically that it was a catch all...
The Canon EOS Digital Rebel is the newest in a long line of Canon SLR cameras. As with their other models, the user can expect a quality product when they get a Canon. The major difference between the Digital Rebel and its predecessors (Canon’s 10D and D60) is the budget-saving effort to be the first digital SLR kit to fall below the $1000 mark. Canon certainly accomplished this goal. Even with...

Digital SLR cameras offer top-notch performance, photo quality, and expandability, and the Digital Rebel is a welcome change from expensive, and often slow, fixed-lens cameras.

Canon EOS Rebel 6.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera
Strengths: excellent battery life, even when using lots of flash and autofocus - i shoot football games from the stands (w/ a 300mm lens) and the battery lasts way longer than the game, even w/o a full charge
Weakness: I really haven't had any major complaints - reading the manuel explains most shortcomings or limitations
I bought this camera after months of researching and knowing what I wanted. I've worked with the Canon 10D and loved it, and the Digital Rebel is just a step under it and quite affordable. Most people comment on the weight of my camera, but it doesn't faze me. The lens (my 300mm) is what makes the camera heavy, and you want a good sturdy camera anyway. Besides, part of that is how people tend to...
