Strengths: Very high quality photos, easy to understand controls, lightweight.
Weakness: None!
The Canon Digital Rebel XT is a great camera. I have some experience with low-end and high-end digital cameras and I've been impressed with the simplicity of controls and the quality of this camera. I compared it with Nikons, Konica/Minoltas and others before purchasing. The features and picture quality was much better in my opinion for the Digital Rebel XT. I have the standard "kit" version with...
Strengths: picture quality, ease of use, size and weight,
Weakness: none so far
this is my first DSLR. So far, I am very satisfied with the quality of the camera. ( even the included EF-S lens quality is surprisingly good) The XT is very easy to use. The little packet guide is handy. It didn't take me long to learn most of the features. Pictures quality is great. I also bought the Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0 L USM lens. Together, they really deliver high quality pictures. The size...
Strengths: easy to use, great features, uses Canon EOS lenses from my 630, light weight, 8 megapixels, "smart" flash
Weakness: the standard lens (18-55 mm) is very good but loses some sharpness at 55 mm in low contrast focusing.
This is a great camera. I loved my EOS 630 but, as I went digital, I opted for the Canon S400 Digital Elph (an amazing camera for such small size)because the SLR's were too heavy and too expensive. The XT hits the sweet spot. Fast shooting, smart features (many updated from the EOS world) and compact size are a huge plus. Although I like the included 18-55mm lens, I wish I had bought body only and...
Strengths: Good image quality. Small and light yet solid.
Weakness: small view finder, dimmed menu
The image quality is very good. From my research, the image quality should be as good as D20. With the kit lens, the auto focus is fast and accurate, even under lower light. Along with the 0.2 second startup, you won't miss any photo moment. The burst mode can shoot 3 frames per second. In my test, it captured 24 shots before slowing down. The battery life is good too. I'm still on my first...
Strengths: Ultra compact for an SLR, Superb quality pictures, Price, It's a CANON what else can I say
Weakness: Maybe a little to small, plastic body, lenses overwhelm the body of the camera.
This is my first SLR and I've been shopping for awhile I got for a little over $809 shipped. Not a bad price for such a great camera. I have a one year old at home and the point and shoots just aren't fast enough to catch your little ones while they're moving. The Rebel XT is right on the money for someone's who appreciates fine pictures of your loved ones and at a cost of a few hundred more than...
Strengths: 8 MP. this camera takes the sharpest pictures I've ever seen from a digital camera. Fast and wonderful color.
Weakness: A little on the heavy side, but not too bad. You can't use the LCD as a viewfinder :(
This is an overall great camera if you're not on a budget. I forked up the cash and it was worth it. Me and my Fiance will be using this for our next cruise we go on and we are excited. My next camera will probably be a Canon.
Strengths: Everyone I showed this camera to were impressed. It takes pictures fast, turns on fast and the battery lasted the entire day. Oh yeah, the pictures come out awesome!
Weakness: The LCD window scratches easily. After you take this camera out of the box, you should immediately apply a screen protector (sold separately). Just like all other SLR cameras, shuter is loud.
I took a close-up of a friend's face and can't believe how sharp it was. You can see every pore and blemish. This camera felt very comfortable in my hand and was not too heavy or extra large that screamed, "Look at me, I am a tourist." Even though most of the camera is made of plastic, you shouldn't be so clumsy to drop an SLR camera and expect it to be alright. Canon should include LCD screen...
Strengths: Easy to use, smaller than previous model, compatible with other/older Canon lenses.
Weakness: A little heavier than I'd like.
This camera takes great pictures and was easy to set up and use right out of the box. While there is an extensive manual that comes with it, the camera is easy to figure out. Since I had older lenses from a 35mm Rebel, I had everything I needed to take closeups and all types of pictures without having to invest in new attachments/lenses, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this camera.
Strengths: Great Picture Quality, Lightest SLR in the market, Extensive set of features, 8MP CMOS, and sophisticated looking body.
Weakness: Small grip size though it is not a big problem, Sometimes scrolling through playback mode scrolls multiple images on (supposedly) one click, Set button for storing features can be troublesome.
I purchased this camera last week. I have taken more than 300 photos from it. The camera rocks! The camera produces excellent picture quality and is easy to carry around. I can hang it on my neck with the kit lens attached and will not feel anything for hours. Eight mega pixel photos really blow up the details and they are fun to look at all the time. Though I found some images to be soft with...

The 350D / Rebel XT delivers an almost unbeatable package of quality, speed, size and price. The most obvious selling point is of course its 8 megapixel resolution, and while the difference between this and its 6 megapixel rivals can be subtle, it's certainly visible in real life results. Thankfully the smaller pixel pitch doesn't compromise noise levels, and Canon's DiG!C II processor ensures...

Think of a digital SLR camera with the features of a mid-priced D-SLR camera, think of an astonishing 8 Megapixels resolution and you will have undoubtedly the Canon Rebel XT in your mind. With an excellent image quality and the application of the DIGIC II processor Canon made a true all-round entry-level D-SLR camera… Read our review now at LetsGoDigital Camera Magazine.

All things considered I'd say that the Canon Digital Rebel XT is the entry-level digital SLR to beat at this point in time. It offers nearly all of the features of the more expensive EOS-20D but for hundreds less. My biggest complaints are the soft images, especially using the kit lens at smaller apertures, and some build quality gripes that I'll get into later. But for those ready to move up to...

The trimmed body of the XT packs in a DIGIC II image processor, which translates to faster processing speeds and advanced image control. The start-up time from the original Rebel is dramatically improved upon in the XT, from almost 2 seconds to 0.2 seconds, and it offers an increased burst mode which now captures consecutive images at 3 fps for 14 consecutive shots. Canon’s XT offers a feature...

a good buy DSLR camera
Strengths: Image quality very good;affordable price; short start-up time; responsive.
Weakness: cheap plastic body. no spot meter
This camera is outstanding but its 18-55 lens kinda crappy. It takes great pictures, and the controls are easy to use and laid out perfectly. Start-up time is instant.better buy a good lens such as 75-200 L f/4.0.
