Strengths: Solid build quality Excellent Canon lens selection Great image quality in general Low noise sensor Has nearly all reasonable features at this price
Weakness: Some functions (e.g. mirror lockup) are a bit awkward to get to White balancing is sketchy unless you choose custom and have a grey card Incremental upgrade over the now cheaper 20D Kit lens margin
This is a great DLSR in its price range (with the Nikon D200 being the other). What sold me was the Canon lens selection. Haven't been dissapointed. Great images with a good lens (24-70 f/2.8L in my case). The included kit lens doesn't do the camera justice, particularly anywhere near wide open, but its a light, cheap EF-S starter lens. The other reviews have covered most of the basics. I suggest...
Strengths: Large LCD, many ISO options, easy to use
Weakness: doesn't need a print/share button, lens kit isn't great
This is my first digital SLR. Many people say that it is too heavy but I think it feels much better than the Canon 10D which I tried using before. it has a fast start up speed and good response time. I will definitly need to purchase another lens but that is inevitable. I'm looking forward to taking it on my coming vacation.
Strengths: Operational speed, resolution, LCD monitor, ISO settings, optional 5 fps, battery life
Weakness: print/share button is useless for me
Coming from a Canon 300d this camera is a tremendous upgrade. Startup and write speed is amazingly fast. The included lens kit is average at best compared to the sharpness that can be had with this camera and an L quality lens. The included Canon software, Zoombrowser, does an adequate job of transferring, managing and editing your photos (learning curve is relatively easy). Highly recommend this...
Strengths: Wide availability of superb lenses, relatively low cost amongst digital SLR's, large screen, very long battery life
Weakness: A bit heavy, but that's due primarily to the beefy metal frame, which is a nice bonus.
My first DSLR, this camera has not disappointed. It's super duper fast, both in shooting and in writing, has an ultra long battery life (I've shot 800 pics, including several with the flash, and the battery indicator hasn't even come off full), and it takes absolutely incredible shots. Be sure to spend the extra bucks to get the image stabilizing lenses. They're worth it!
Strengths: Strong and solid Magnesium alloy body, big and bright LCD Screen, professional features. Nice noise-level and image-quality.
Weakness: A little bit pricy... no rebate at the moment...
I used to own an Olympus E-300. This EOS 30D is much better. It is much lighter, with better building quality. The noise level is much better than the E-300, when I shoot with 30D at ISO800, the noise level is even lower than the E-300 shooting at ISO200. The canon 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 is a nice lens when shooting outdoor considering its price, I bought a canon 50mm F1.8 for portrait. I want a nice...
Strengths: Large 2.5" LCD, spot metering, more ISO options, new shooting modes (picture styles, continuous)
Weakness: N/A
As the title states, I did a lot of reading before upgrading from the 20D to the 30D. Some would say, "why?" and the answer lies in a few upgrades that I considered to be worth $300 or so. * The large LCD is certainly a plus. When previewing images, this LCD is not only larger, but it also allows a much wider viewing angle. The wider viewing angle allows me to tilt the camera up to 170 or so...
Strengths: Nice camera. 2.5' LCD, more ISO options, very fast, easy to use
Weakness: N/A
I bought this 30D as my first DSRL. Very nice camera. The Canon 30D is amazing. Very fast. I did not any weakness currently. I also find the battery life is pretty long, good for outdoor travel. Picture quality is super. I can not complain any more. Will spend some money to get a better len in future.
Strengths: Image quality, solid built, 2.5" screen, long battery time, picture styles, affordable price
Weakness: 1.6 crop sensor size, so so qaulity kit lens, expensive accessories.
I have my 30D for almost two months. The more I use it the more I love it. This is my first digital SLR. I had been a Nikon SLR user for more than 15 years. I was considering Nikon D70s but finally chose 30D. What I like most is its image quality from Canon's CMOS sensor. Low noise and silky smooth even in high ISO 400. Color response is also surprisingly good comparing with CCD. Its picture...
Strengths: Super fast! large LCD monitor, excellent build, very robust, good ergonomics, easy to use menu.
Weakness: Build in flash is not strong enough, no user memories
This is my first DSLR camera. The reason why I chose Canon 30D over the Nikon because there are a lots of good reviews about this camera. In fact after I received it, I realized those reviews are telling the true. The 30D is very fast, not like those Power shot/Cyber shot, you don't have to wait between shot to shot. This is very important to me because I use it to shoot pictures on my kids, and...

The concept was already solid as could be, but with the introduction of the Canon EOS 30D, Canon have once again clearly asserted and strengthened its roots and their position. There are virtually no points that might cause any form of hindrance for the user, which, in our opinion, is an excellent performance indeed. A superb camera!

Canon’s EOS 30D may be little more than an evolutionary step forward, but it’s crucial to remember it improves upon a camera which most agreed was already excellent. While it may have been more honest to describe it as a 20D Mark II, the 30D remains a great camera which is enjoyable and rewarding to use, while delivering lower noise levels than its rivals. There may be few existing Canon...

Uses the same CMOS sensor as the 20D, but has a larger LCD and a spot meter. Controls are intuitive and easy to use.

The length of the "Pro" list next to the (very few) "Cons" at the conclusion of our review will give you some idea of the quality and capability of the Canon EOS-30D. The exceptional nature of the Canon 30D should come as no surprise though, given that it's a refinement of an already superb digital SLR, brought up to date with a few features the market's been wanting. The camera performs well in...

The Canon EOS-30D is an excellent midrange digital SLR. While its new features aren't exciting enough to get this 20D owner to run out and upgrade, those who are moving up from point-and-shoot or entry-level D-SLRs should definitely give the 30D a look.

Canon EOS 30D 8.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body...
Strengths: Instant start, noise-free sensor, superb pictures
Weakness: None
I've had my 30D for just over two months and have taken 847 pictures to date. The camera's controls are almost intuitive, the results are spectacular. I moved up from an almost three year old 300D Canon Digital Rebel and the move was worth the price. The camera must be experienced to be appreciated. Using RAW format and post processing, it's a crime if you don't take more pictures. The grandkids...
