DCR-DVD610 DVD Handycam Camcorder records video directly to DVD or removable media. Offers built-in zoom mic, Quick On button, 40X optical zoom/2000X digital zoom, Super NightShot Plus Infrared System and Memory Stick PRO Duo media slot. 2.7 wide-screen touch panel, liquid crystal display with 211K pixels rotates 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles, and provides detailed images for monitoring or playback. The wide-screen format makes shooting in 16:9 mode and composing shots easy. 1/8 Advanced HAD CCD with 340K pixels provides stunning detail and clarity with up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution. Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses are designed specifically for compact camcorders, and utilize precision ground optics to maintain the sharpness and contrast found with larger lenses. Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization System controls a high range of shake and vibration frequencies. DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL compatible.

Strengths: It is economical to make a DVD disc by using the small 8CM DVD+RW discs and then copy to computer hard drive, then copy a regular DVD disc from the computer.
Weakness: If you are using the camcorder for a rather long time, you should have a spare battery.
The camcorder is very easy to use, and is light in weight whereas you do not get tired of holding it. It fits in your hand very nicely. It is very well built and durable,and like any product with the SONY name should last a very long time since it is built with high quality components.

Good price, good quality
Strengths: Sony's 610 DVD Camcorder is a decent one for the price. It's very easy to use, pretty much just plug and play. It has great features, including the nightshot. It's also a comfortable size to hold.
Weakness: On automode, the camcorder has a hard time focusing and can be very blurry at times. Good lighting is required for a good video, for the most part. The user guide is also a little lengthy.
This handycam is pretty good quality. It feels as though it is created with quality materials and of course has a great name behind it. When recording my 1 yr. old son, the camera attempts to correct the blur and tries to focus, but stays very blurry at times due to motion from my "can't stand still" son.
