Weakness: A bit bulky. No color viewfinder.
The dcr-trv-740 is perhaps the best camcorder available in its price range. With superb image quality(520 lines, mega pixel CCD) even in low light situations, manual exposure control, and a host of other features, this camera is a delight to own. I was considering the trv840, which adds a bigger screen and progressive scan. However, these features do not really affect the overall picture quality....
Sony DCR-TRV740 D8 HandyCam
Strengths: Easy to use
Weakness: just a tiny bit bulky
Love my camcorder, but don't lose the software, it's hard to find the replacement. I have been searching the internet for approx. 2-3 months to locate the software and cannot find it. Other than that, all is good!!!
