Strengths: Small, Easy to use, waterproof (to 1.5 meters), good stills and video, records to SD or SDHC cards
Weakness: video compression sometimes creates some anomalies - not terrible, but worth mentioning
I bought this camera primarily for its portability. My preliminary research indicated that it would not be a "great" still or video camera but quality should be acceptable. I spend a fair amount of time at the pool and beach so the waterproof feature was a bonus. Bottom line for me is: if the camera is too big, it will stay at home as I am not one to lug around a bunch of camera equipment,...
Strengths: small, easy to use, good editing software included, high quality picture, WATERPROOF!, good audio/mic
Weakness: Can't record video without having LCD screen open so straping the thing to my helmet while mountain biking might be tough.
I've been thinking about getting into video for years but have always stuck to still photography. I wish I would've made the switch sooner. This camera is great. I've been very impressed with the ease of use and quality of the output. I've jumped into the water while filming and it is definitely waterproof. I would buy this camera all over again and would recommend it to anyone.
Video is Good according to 7 Camcorder experts. -- "Stills were surprisingly good in 6-MP mode, and we were able to snap detailed, virtually noiseless shots in a variety of lighting conditions, including Central Park at dusk, an outdoor concert, a sunny day at the pool, and around the office."-laptopmag.com -- "Sharp video and still images"-laptopmag.com -- "This powerful little camcorder easily...

The six-megapixel Sanyo Xacti E1 is a fun hybrid camera-camcorder that can get wet and keep coming back for more. Unlike previous Xacti models, the Xacti E1 is waterproof instead of just water-resistant, which means you can fully submerge it. Even the microphone is capable of capturing sound underwater. For a reasonable $499, the E1's compact design and solid performance make it perfect for using...

Great camera, a little questionable on the quality...
Strengths: Still pictures are great, movies are good quality, small and portable
Weakness: Camera LCD screen failed after about 3 months, only 3 month warranty on parts and labor (1 year on parts)
It seems the LCD screen failed after using it for about 1 hour while snorkeling which makes me question the waterproofness of the camera. The rest of the camera continued to function correctly.
