Description
Be creative, have some fun. The GR-D270 puts you in the director's chair. Its powerful 25x optical zoom lens gets tight close-ups of your subject and the 2.5 inch Clear LCD monitor, reduces glare and reflections so you'll always see your subject, even outdoors. The D270 has an SD/MMC card slot for recording high quality digital still images. Another advantage is our new Data Battery. With a press of a button view five levels of remaining battery and record time on the Clear LCD monitor.

Strengths: Easy to use, when it worked.
Weakness: Blocky playback after 5 hours of recording. Poor tech support from JVC.
this camera stopped working properly after a mere 5 hours of recording. playback of video became blocky. an authorized JVC repair shop told me that i needed a $100 part, and that it would cost $300 to repair. the part is covered by the warranty, but not the labor (i didn't start using the camera until after the labor warranty ran out). JVC tech support refuses to help, or even to admit that $400...
Strengths: Small,light and muti-function
Weakness: Battery life is short.
The camcorder is wonderful, very small size like sony, but it has light, still picture is not good, do not hope camcorder has the same picture like Digital cameras.I think it is enough to do family DV.I love it!
Strengths: Small, handy, light, easy to use
Weakness: battery length is too short
I have been using this tiny but featureful DV for a week now. It is very easy to operate, has almost all the functions for non-professional or first timers. The only thing I do not like is the length of the battery. I need to buy a backup battery if I am traveling.
Strengths: Size and Zoom
Weakness: Lens Cap Falls Off, 1 Hour Battery
Love it Love it Love it I never thought I would have used this little camera so much. It fits in my handbag and now I carry it everywhere -weighs so little, even with the battery on. Takes great video and stills, I am always prepared! Zoomed in for graduation photos from so far away, could see the Principal's nose hairs! Filmed Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, which came out great! Easy to use and...
Strengths: small, light, optical zoom
Weakness: the night mode doesnt work as well as i was expecting
overall i think this is a great video camera for the price. it has many features and is easy to use. the lcd screen has great quality and can be rotated up and down depending on how you want to take your videos.
Strengths: Very compact, ergonomic buttons, excellent LCD screen.
Weakness: Lens cap gets in the way, light could be more powerful/bright, short battery life.
I did a lot of research before purchasing this camcorder. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted a full-feature camcorder that was easy to carry around. It was important to me that the camcorder take still photos, which this one does (SD card not included, but I bought one at Circuit City for $14.99 that will hold up to 100 pictures, depending on resolution). This camcorder is...
Strengths: lightweight, nice zoom
Weakness: battery life is to short, can't view on computer
The camcorder has an excellent zoom, which to me is very important. It is very small and lightweight which makes it easy to take almost any place. The battery life is very low, so you basically need to buy an extra battery. For the price of the camera you should get a better battery with a longer life to it. Since this does take still pictures it would have been nice to have a flash on here. You...
Strengths: Small
Weakness: Broken, breaks, customer support not helpful,
Bought this camera, thinking I was getting a good deal. Was I in for a surprise. Still Photos that it takes are too blurry, Camera needs a flash bulb. After 2 days of on and off use camera broke. I am sure every one that has bought this camera will sooner or later add their name to this list. Playback of a recording ended up in about 4 horizontal lines across the screen each measuring about 1...
Strengths: Love the compact size. This camcorder replaced an older model - like the design and size. GReat zoom, easy to use, manual easy to read
Weakness: Haven't found any yet - waiting to try it on night parades in Disney later in year.
Really like the size and design of this camcorder. It's VERY compact and with this model, I feel I will use more of the features including the slow motion which I haven't seen on other models. I use the camcorders for travel photos and film and think this will do the trick. It is replacing an older model and will await to see if it stands up to time.
The JVC GR-D270 is the middle-of-the-road low-end JVC this year, and in our opinion the best value among cheaper JVCs this year. It features the same imager (CCD-Charge Coupled Device) as both of the other lower-end JVCs, the GR-D250 and GR-D295, and as such, performs similarly to both camcorders.

Retailing for US $350.00 street ($449 suggested retail), the JVC GR-D270 is the middle-of-the-road model of this year’s GR line and replaces last year’s JVC GR-D72. Astute readers will notice that the price tag is $100 less than the GR-D72 entry price, and some may wonder how they managed to reduce the price even though the internal specs between the two camcorders are (with one major...
