Strengths: All around a decent unit - I could almost leave the Canon G5 camera home. In daylight - You will love it. Snap shots on the memory card, or even mini movie clips to memory card.
Weakness: Low light can be an issue with any digital imaging system - so plan ahead and turn some lights on.
I stopped at National Camera Mpls the day before my flight took me to Sweden and most of Europe. I made sure to have an extra battery and tapes and a couple 1gb SD cards. Filming in Holland or anywhere in Europe isn't the safest thing in the streets while doing it on a bicycle, but everyone wants a copy. Trains as well. Your clipping along at 95 mph in most trains, and they are very smooth. So...
Strengths: Tons of features, optical stabilization, true widescreen, decent battery life, 14x zoom, manual focus ring
Weakness: Poor lowlight performance (washed out colors), odd location for function button/scroll wheel, motor noise
This is a good camcorder that has a lot going for it. From a decent UI (except for the odd positioning of the function button/scroll wheel) to good daylight performance. Very easy to get started right out of the box. Just set it in auto mode, pop in the battery and the tape and you're ready to go. Custom modes allow a lot of control over settings, including audio levels (this is necessary to cut...
Strengths: Picture Quality, Features, Options.
Weakness: None.
This is a great camera, loaded with features and is very easy to use. The picture quality is outstanding and the transfer to a PC is very simple and easy. The controls are right at your fingertips and the camera is very well designed.
Strengths: Video quality. Low light ability. Steady shot. Video quality. 16:9 true widescreen. Picture quality. 14X Zoom. Ergonomics. Did I say video quality!!!
Weakness: Picks up motor noise. You will need a backup battery for a 60 min tape. Lasts 30 min.
I recorded over 6 hrs so far, and found this to be an excellent camcorder. The video quality and low light capabilty are excellent. When recorded to DVD via computer and then played on my 42" widescreen, it is like watching a DVD from the video store. I was surprised to see the quality of the pictures too. They look like 3 megapixel, not 2. The 14x zoom is fantastic. I compared to Panasonic and...
Strengths: reasonably intuitive controls for a large variety of functions. The most often needed contols are easily accessible.
Weakness: low light (night time) video is weak.
This is my first and only digital camera, and it might be the only one I need. With a 265K card, I can take a few hundred stills before saving them off to my computer. The stills are vivid and sharp; they look great. But of course it is primarily a video camera. Performs well for a family reunion and swimming meets.
Strengths: Optical Image Stabilizer even when recording 16:9 videos! True 16:9 capturing; Focus ring; 2.2MP CCD; 14X optical zoom.
Weakness: Need a secondary 1450ml battery
Great price with superb features. The best balance so far. I've been looking for a good camcorder for a long time. What surprised me is that this one has an Optical Image Stabilizer even when recording true 16:9 videos which beats Panasonic's and Sony's in this price range. I like 16:9 aspect ratio, which will certainly replaces 4:3 videos in the near future. The 14X optical zoom is enough for...
Strengths: image quality, handy in size, decent optical zoom with image stabilization, button to print to the printer directly from the camcoder.
Weakness: no light movie recording is not that impressive.
For the price I paid for this camcoder with these features, its unbeatable. I was doing some reaserch for 2-3 megapixel digital mini dv camcoder and this is the best for the price I was paying. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.
Strengths: Ergonomic design ( it's very fit in your hand ), wonderful & colorful still picture quality, have an additional light & have an image stabilizer.
Weakness: less quality of picture when shoot in the dark place (even it has an additional light)
I am looking for a good & stylish camcorder for price range $400-$600. I've been doing the research through many brand but my mind stuck in this beautiful camcorder. It has a very nice design & ergonomic. It is very fit in my hand and it's very easy to reach all the button. The quality of still picture is more than enough for standard picture and it also has a direct printing device. So far I am...
Strengths: Manual focus, image stabilization, wheel mode, video priority mode, good LCD, 2.2MP CCD digital camera
Weakness: Size is still not that compact, Little noisy microphone, indoor shooting could have been better, could have more zoom 14x zoom, low battery life.
Overall this is a great camcorder for everyone but not professional. Size is small so you don't need a bulky bag to carry all day in a theme park. You don't have to carry a separate camera, the 2.2MP CCD snaps are enough if you plan to print 4 x 6 snaps. The manual control is very nice too with the 14x zoom. All I recommend is to buy and carry a charged extra battery for your trips.
The Canon Optura 60 is the middle-weight champ of the Optura series, and the top 1 chip camcorder of their entire 2005 line. This camcorder has a lot to offer, with excellent image quality and great features. It shares many similarities with the Optura 50, and while it may lack the 3 chip performance of the Optura 600, it also costs about $400 less.

The Canon Optura 60 has similar specifications to last year's Optura 40, but its featured optical image stabilization may not make up for its poor low light performance when compared to last year’s Opturas. We had high hopes for this year's ZRs, but sadly the Canon Optura 60's performance is disappointing. The camcorder does offer some additions, including more accessible manual controls and a...

The Optura 60 shoots excellent video (provided you have enough light), snaps decent still images, and offers a full range of creative flexibility, making it a solid choice.

Great Closeup macro camera
Strengths: Wow
Weakness: Wow
Wow, why am I writing this review? I totally agree with other reviews. but I just found out 1 thing today. This digital camera feature of Optura 60 is superb. i just accidently tested this digital camera feature on my skin and totally shocked!! Its minimum close up distance is virtually "0". you can close and still get auto focused to an object. its totally a microscopic image with sharp...
