There is only one feature on this machine (slow eject), and only three functions: Stop, Start, Eject. It rewinds only. I was expecting a fast-forward function, as well, but for the price I suppose my expectations were too high. It is difficult to insert tapes sometimes. Maxell MDV-RW1 Mini Dv Tape Rewinder

Strengths: Small, compact and easy to bring around.

Weakness: No battery power option.

This rewinder is great help to rewind all the miniDV tapes I have used during my last trip. It is alot faster than to rewind on my Camcorder. I am able to save the wear and tear on my camcoder. Works great. Very compact and easy to bring around.

Weakness: slow rewind

Great for carry around with on trips. I went to Yellowstone and it was great having this rewinder along to make it much more convenient to transfer my video clips to my computer. I would recommend this rewinder to anyone who wishes to save on the wear of there camcorder.

i bought this product to save wear and tear on my camcorder when rewinding. so far it has done a satisfactory job. good quality but lacks battery backup for example like you are on the road or travelling where ther are no powersource to plug it in.

It appears that no one can manufacture a decent DV rewinder. After using a brand new tape to test this rewinder out, the device will ruin the tape after rewinding the same tape 6 times. If you are the kind of person that uses the same tape over and over again, be ready to have some new tapes ready, because this device will eat the tape after the 6th rewind. Strengths: Quick Rewind of tape. Smooth rewind of tape. Smooth overall operation of machine. Small, compact & doesn't take up much shelf or desk-top space.

Weakness: None that I can tell at this point.

Strengths: Small size

Weakness: Noise during operation is fairly high. Sometimes rewind button hard to press

The Maxell rewinder is not to bad a unit, but it could be quiter in operation. I would probably spend a little more for a better. It sometimes does not want to rewind tapes. You have to position the tapes properly to press the rewind buttion.
